All, I pledge to stop following cricket from today. Hope Dravids, Sachins and Laxmans will take the cue.

Adios cricket....and cricket fans!! Wasted so much of my life on it!

captain is as good as the team.
by alok bariyar on Jan 31, 2012 04:03 PM  | Hide replies

dhoni was never great,it was just the team. even nw when the team is nt playing well it is not the captain, rather the team is not playing well. so why blaming one individual? playing without bowlers can never make a team a great team.india winning in the home conditions are all fixed and sponsered.and the last thing is making sehwag the captain of india- fixing matches and behaving arbitrary is forte. persons like sehwag can be made captain in india only.

Dhoni
by Jiju on Jan 31, 2012 04:03 PM  | Hide replies

Even if there is no better replacement, Dhoni should come out of captaincy and come up the batting order. Batting with tail enders is an excuse for his fanatic followers to claim that he cannot make runs like other batsmen :)

Around 40 average is very good for a number 7 batsman that too if he is a WK.

Dhoni is just a batsman suitable for flat track pitches. And keeping skills, wow!! If u havent seen the matches, see clippings in youtube :)

West Indies was #8 team. There also, he screwed up by failing to chase 147 odd in 50 overs! England-2011 we saw how good his keeping skills were. NZ series was almost 3 yrs ago. U want to bask in past glory even now!!

Harbhajan should be captain
by timepass on Jan 31, 2012 04:00 PM  | Hide replies

Harbhajan has potential to be the best captain ever, why no one talks about him as captain?

Few points
by Net Citizen on Jan 31, 2012 04:00 PM  | Hide replies

1. Our batsman could not perform on fast track / bouncy pitches.

2. We don't have genuine fast bowler who can trouble the batsman irrespective of the type of pitch.

3. These two points proved that changing the captaincy, not really making any difference in
the fourth test.

4. However Dhoni as wicket keeper/batsman slot is really questionable.

There is no replacement of Dhoni, neither as a WK batsman nor as a captain.

We lost due to poor batting. When your fame batting line up can't cross 300 runs 15-16 times in a year, you need to change batting line up rather than captaincy. He is doing well as captain. He made just one mistake by opting bat first in Sydney test.

Haha, joke!! Defensive field setting when opposition is 24/4 or 35/3 or 97/5 is a correct thing to do according to u!!

Defensive field setting is a part of strategy. You can't be aggressive all the time.

Ya, setting defensive field in such conditions (27/4, 35/3, etc) is a strategy in tests? Haha!!

Stats are forcing you to think like that. When our fielders are dropping catches of players like Ponting and Clarke, Dhoni can't do anything. Stats could be different if fielders would have taken that catches with same defensive strategy.

Stats could also have been different if Dhoni had set a good field.

Though I agree with you Venu, when seniors do the same it is termed as shameless. When Dhoni does it, it is termed as guts!
