Hole in the Wall
by Makya on Jan 31, 2012 11:39 AM

There is a big hole in the "Wall".
So-called wall Dravid was clean bowled 6 out 8 innings in Australia.

You are 100% right. Dada should be back as captain, just like Bob Simpson in 1977 against India in Australia.

Kohli and Ashwin have it in them to be dominating , from what we see them talk at post match conference and I wouldnt be surprised to see either one of them leading the team in 5 yrs time.

Ashwin said they are disappointed but not ashamed. That shows these guys have no idea how miserable they have played. They should be asked when would they ashamed of their performance. These guys are assured of their money from IPL and least bother about test debacle, that is why this arrogance.

True. A comprehensive whitewash, they have been undressed in the public, and they say that they are not ashamed, but only disappointed.

Because there IPL players, Indiua test team is being mauled abroad.

At present, both of them haven't proved anything yet. 1 century in Australia, cant make Kohli a permanent member in the side, but consistant performances would definetely make him one. Both are in mid 20s and have ample time and space to capitalize on the position they have now. Lets see.

hats off to akash and co
by veerapuram dharan on Jan 31, 2012 10:40 AM  | Hide replies

being a fan of TN ranji team, i am left with no option but to admire the way rajasthan played themselves. on paper, one would have expected TN to bulldoze them in the final. because TN team is full of super stars with in the ranji format..

but as i had mentioned in my below comment, a great team not necessarily be loaded with super stars..even shooting stars like akash, kanitkar can still galvanise its team to come up with the best..

hats off to rajasthan team..

well said. Even I thought TN would finish the game inside 4 days, given the fact that they were playing at Chepauk, but the script had a totally different climax. Yet again, it goes on to prove that 'superstars, be it in films or cricket, can only pull the crowds, but the basics win the contest, script in films, discipline and application in cricket'

tamil nadu was helped in their batting collapse by some dubious decisions of the umpires But still rajastan batted well and also bowled with an aim to win...kudos to them. Rajastan was superior of the two side

not necessary
by veerapuram dharan on Jan 31, 2012 10:35 AM  | Hide replies

its not necessary that a team loaded with super stars make up for a great team..a legendary team with legendary players like richards, lloyd, roberts, marshall, holding had to make way for youngsters..same is the case with mcgrath, warne, muthiah etc..

one is puzzled as to what is still left with sachin to prove to the world. no one is expecting him to score a century..but atleast he should have some set targets in mind like acting a suport role to a set batsman like virat etc..he seems to be clueless as to whether to stick around or lay shots etc..

time up sachin..u will still be the worlds best with 99 centuries..like the don with 99.95 average..

Statistics is a lame number - does not say the context. Any day Gavaskar is 3 times better player than SRT. Next 50 years - people would be talking about Richards Rhodes Warne Marshall VVS Kapil with fondness but not necessarily of Sachin.

only one addition...you failed to mention that because of his innings on flat tracks when either there was no pressure or when the batsmen before him had given good foundation only at such times sachin has scored....whenever there was pressure or when 2 early wickets had fallen sachin has rarely played well anywhere in the world...

sachin's average LOOKS good because he takes advantage of the good batting tracks in these countries...

dont for a moment fool yourself that in india only flat tracks exist and in eng sa aus only bowler's pitches exist...there are flat batting pitches in eng sa aus also and many times there have been good wickets (not flat tracks) in india also where bowlers (even fast bowlers) get very good help...
