Home Conditions !

Players like Dravid, VVS & Sachin are failures when it comes to overseas conditions.

Play them only in sub-continent conditions so that team India dominates in India & give chance to younger players when it comes to overseas matches.

Dravid should never retire!!!!
by Nationalistic Patriot on Jan 30, 2012 10:52 AM  | Hide replies

Dravid is quite fit and should never retire. ideally he should be dropped for the next series. If the youngsters fail and Dravid plays well in Ranji then he can come back. Age is just a number. he has just failed in 3 tests.

Mr. Dravid - Please retire
by KALYAN MITRA on Jan 30, 2012 10:38 AM

Mr.Dravid - You were an outstanding batter, no doubt about that.

But its time to retire. Hope you remember Ganguly, he took retirement gracefully after a very good come back. You are alomst of same age as Ganguly and please retire gracefully.

Manoj Tiwary should be given a chance in your place probably.

Going Forward
by abc_xyz abc_xyz on Jan 30, 2012 10:38 AM  | Hide replies

Lets look at the test scenarios. India is going to face NZ, ENG and AUS at home in the next 1.5 yrs and this is the perfect time to bring in newcomers and groom them. Some hard decisions have to be taken for the teams' cause:

Team composition:

1. First and foremost, Laxman's time is up. He should retire gracefully or forced to.
2. Either Tendulkar or Dravid should be playing hencefoth, until both retire. No point in having both in a home series.
3. Dhoni should retire from Test cricket and concentrate on 2015 world cup, as he is not a test match material, and remains a key to 2015 WC.
4. Sehwag and Gambhir's performances should be scrutinized and be told clearly 'Perform or Perish'. We dont need T20 shots in Test cricket. Enough is Enough.
5. Find openers from the Ranji Trophy that conculded recently, who can bat atleast 25 overs.
6. Pull in 3/4 Middle Order players to replace the trio, prepare them to take on in 2 yrs time. Again look at Ranji for that. Not ODI or IPL performances.
7. Replace Ishant with Praveen Kumar/Varun Aaron. Zaheer given his fitness level, may play for max another 1yr before he breaks down permanently.
8.Groom Umesh/Kohli/Ashwin/Ohja/Rohit. The nucleas of future indian team.
9. Saha is highly impressive behind the stumps. Make him permanent.
10. Since Dhoni and Sehwag are both inconsistant, make a young player captain and give some time (kohli or Ashwin, given their body language can be good candidates).

Action Items:

Its an open secret that Indian's can't play on bouncy tracks. There is no point in cribbing that over and over again. Some practical measure can solve the problem to some extent.

1. Sehwag/Gambhir/Raina/Yuvaraj/Harbajan are all proven international cricketers. But they fail consistently in abroad test matches. They have also earned enough for a secure living. They should be told to play in Country cricket in Eng/Aus/SA and skip IPL for this yr, if at all they hope to retain/comeback to the Test squad.

2. Upcoming players should stictly be told - your IPL performances mean nothing. Perform in Ranji trophy and earn your TEST place.

3. No player will play for India without playing 2 full Ranji seasons.

4. Anyone failing fitness will not be shown any sympathy. All those 20 something guys should know to work on their body ( See what Aussies have planned for Pat Cummins)

5. Pace Bowlers should learn swimming and be able to swim atleast 400-500 metres at a strech before taken into consideration. Swimming increases your stamina, arms stength and that gives them the guts to bowl 140-145kmph consistently.
