Strategies To Improve
by Face Dude on Jan 28, 2012 07:12 PM

We can think of the following to improve Indian cricket in general:

Declare Cricket as a professional sport. Cricketers should earn their living out of playing cricket only

Link match fees to performance / contributions. Grade players according to their contributions not seniority.

Ban players from giving interviews to press and media or enter advt contracts until they have played atleast 5 years of professional cricket

Separate IPL team from test cricket team. Compensate test players suitably to maintain parity if any

Prepare fast and boucy wickets. Have Ranji matches played in these pitches

Allow international players to play for state teams in Indian domestic cricket just like English county.

Have a grading system for domestic cricketers also at national level - not just at the state level. Publish these ratings periodically in press.

Establish constant pool of reserve players (graded as per performance) ready to replace any out of form cricketer

The position of each player for a test match will have to be decided on a per match basis not for a series

Conversation over whisky between N. Srinivasan and K. Srikanth
by Sachin Joshi on Jan 28, 2012 06:50 PM

Srikanth (Chief selector) : We need to make changes in the team.
Srinivasan (BCCI chief) : What changes? We have the best team and best captain. We are the best in the world. May be we can bring in Chris Gayle to strengthen it further.
Srikanth : We lost the test series 0-4 to Australia.
Srinivasan : Oh, I thought you were talking of my team Chennai Superkings. They have won both IPL and Champions League. But tell me, do we even play test matches? When was this Australia series?

BCCI to be blamed completely
by Bali Mayur on Jan 28, 2012 06:19 PM

India was down and out in all the 8 innings they played in 4 tests. Not even a shadow of a fight in any of these innings, with such experienced players. The final team 11 selection is sickening. Bowlers like Ishant and Vinay Kumar must be left behind in the IPL. Dhoni as a player captian is a dumbo in test cricket and of not any worthiness to be in the 11 itself. Sehwag bats like a mad man.

Is this how a test captain should be - cold and frozen, not engaging with any bowler when they bowl or not even with the vice captain for 5 days. Just imagine, 4 tests got over in 14 days instead of 20 days. Just shows the lowest level of test cricket we have reached. This is the right time for teams like Bangladesh and Zimbabwe to win some test matches. Pls call India to your country.

And for you crackpots running BCCI, conduct IPL 3 times a year, gather all the profits, batsmen will learn to invent more new shots between their legs, under their armpits, standing on their heads, playing with wrong hands, hitting with the rear side of the bat, scoop shots, hitting balls pitched on the 15th stump, hitting shots leaping in the air. Totally 120 balls of just madness and then send same players for Test cricket and the test gets over in 2 days, as batsmen dont have any more technique, expereince and patience. BCCI needs to be sent black roses and cowdung in gift boxes. They have ruined our test players and our test cricket. Thats the real truth.

We are consistent in failing
by AkashKamath on Jan 28, 2012 06:05 PM  | Hide replies

Actually blame two to three players is not solution when entire team fails. Ok Seniors have failed but what about Gambhir, Sehwag, Dhoni, Ashwin, Yadav, Zaher, Ishant etc....... Our bowling has failed consistently over years, no one seems to talk about it. We struggle to take 20 wickets in a match what about that

ABSOLUTELY.

Look at Leander, he is as young and winning as any tennis player in his 20s.

Fantastic performance by Leander in keeping Indian flag high in sports.

Thank Indians.

Peter Siddle, Ryan Harris and Ben Hilfenhaus played last year too, against England, and were as effective as a team of Schoolboys might have been against a Test Team.
It wouldn't be proper to start looking for adjectives because they humiliated India.
India has always had the knack of making ordinary players look great.

Key is ,the lenght they bowled in this series. They have managed to to hit areas consistently a foot ahead of goodlenght at high speed. This lenght makes it very difficult for batsmen to go forward or backward. Kudos to their bowling coach. But this lenght may not be suitable for subcontinental pitches.

And the key is also that Sachin, Dravid, Laxman are over aged and tired to win test matches abroad.

One year is good time to mature.

Malcom Marshall was nothing, just a novice, when he visited India in 1979. By 1980 he became world's fasted and most deadly fast bowler.

Theres no doubt left in my mind whtsoever that the 2011 cricket world cup in India was absolutely fixed .It was nothing but a set up which fooled the many billion fans not only in India but around the world.
Guess that poor little Vinod Kambli too telling the Truth
The BCCI and Indian Cricket team must be Punished severely for this

There is no qualities of fast bowler seen on vinay.. he can name himself as a spinner as he is bowling in good pace..
