Why 'special', why not 'Regular'
by sq kazmi on Jan 23, 2012 10:39 AM  | Hide replies

India no longer can afford these 'specials'. Special means something not usual or consistent, and that it how Sehwag performs. He makes a big score once in a while, enoguh to keep his job.
The time has come to deliver more consistent performance rather than these 'Specials' because the consistent tortoise wins the race against the rabbit giving 'Special' performances. Not only Sehawag , the whole Indian batting has become too soft playing in instant cricket where the pitch and rules are tailored to suit batsmen. They do not have the technical correctness, mental toughness and patience required to play in tests where the bowling is not hamstrung by the rules or flat pitches. It is high time they turn out more 'Regular' performances than rare 'special ones.

Alright. Sehwag will give you his consistent single digit score in Adelaide too.

What is your yardstick? Pray, tell me. Positive messages are withheld; negativity abounds and stays forever. I will have you know that nine out ten will never find a place in any other sites! Some moderation indeed!

10 point agenda for future of indian cricket
by krishna v on Jan 23, 2012 10:05 AM  | Hide replies

1. Have Dhoni greater say in all aspects of the Indian team.
2. Drop all seniors - Sachin,Dravid,Zaheer,Laxman. India berth is not private property, that they can choose when to retire. Moreover, if india is looking at future, they will not fit in.
3. Get 2 solid openers with good technique. - good bye Gambhir,Sehwag (as opener)
4. Push Sehwag to No.4
5. India\'s middle order to be from Kohli,Sharma,Raina,Pujara,Tiwary - Persist is the key.
6. Get 5-6 young fast bowlers who can bowl more than 140 kph and for long time. Encourage aggression. Yadav, Aaron, Sreesanth, Praveen. Kumar, Ishant Sharma. Find couple of more. Rotate them.
7. Ashwin, Ojha, Rahul Sharma should be bowling for long hours.(Get a spinning coach - Prasanna,Bedi would be good). Reduce their T20,ODI load. T20,Odi is not the route to test cricket for a spinner.
8. Get Irfan Pathan to increase pace.He is young,no reason why he cannot reach more than 135 kph.
9. Encourage meaningful cricket. 5 match odi series, 2 test series make no sense.
10. Stick to above 9 points for 4-5 years

On some of your points:
1. Dhoni is doing enough damage, more say means more damage
2. Wont help
3. Superman and Spiderman?
4. Pushing Sehwag outside the pavilion is better idea
5. Agree with persisting with those fellas
6. Agree, but keep hopes low. They will get rotator cuff injuries whether or not you rotate them
7. The longer Ashwin, Ojha, Rahul Sharma, the more runs they will concede. wickets? Nay.
8. Yes, good if he increases pace.
9. Agree completely
10. Maybe give all cricketers a break for 2 years, since they keep complaining about too much cricket. In fact, give India a break of 2 yrs from cricket

Except for Sachin, Laxman, Dravid and Zaheer all others including Dhoni, can consider India berth as private property? Amazing!!!

@krishna.
1. Enough of Dhoni..
2. when you play at international level , you donot look at the future. you look at present and to win. whoever performs whether a 40 year old or 16 year old remains.
3.point 3 agreed. It should be likes of Aakash chopra who an playout the new ball and Shewag or Gambhir, who can attack
4. shewag can play at any position from 1 to 11. he will continue to play like this only.
5.remember dravid scored 5 centuries in 2011. these 5 are good future prospect only if they do restricted endorsements otherwise they will forget cricket
6. agreed
7. agreed but likes of prasanna and bedi would be murdered by batsman like warner etc.. need agression
8.Irfan has lost steam. and when he is hit for few runs he looses confidence.
Apart from this they should prepare fast and bouncy pitches ( lots of politics and corruption here) they should have restriction of endorsement and compulsory minimum domestic matches...

This man has to dropped for good!!!once in a way he scores in a reckless manner and if it is his lucky day,he scores a century and stiks to the team.
Do not be surprised that he scores a fifty plus to 100 and seals his place.

Imagine if Dravid had his scoring pattern, he would have ben dropped long ago.Eventhough Dravid socred heavily 3 tests ago and also in this series is quite reasonable, see the way already people writing him off!!!
Probabl if he is from North India, he woul have got a better deal!!!

whenever he scores he wins the match for us.. he is like do or die... whatever matches we have won in last few years are because of him. leave apart Dravid and laxmans epic innings, he is the guy who wins and he is in team because of that. had he been playing slow he would have retired by now and would be working in farm by now

Rakesh, correct, in fact just yesterday someone told me that Sehwag, Sachin, Gambhir, Ishant, Dravid, Laxman, Zaheer, Kohli, Yadav and Vinay Kumar (thats 10 out of 11) all play for CSK!!!
I heard that a fly went inside your head and got lost since it was dim inside!!
