Be prepared for 4-0 at Adelaide - Do now or die
by powerful Goldstar on Jan 23, 2012 05:14 PM

We Indians, media and public will get only what we deserve. When Sehwag did pyrotechnics against poor West Indies, we lifted him to the top. When we did badly in England, we didnt learn. So nothing's gonna change. India will lose the 4th Test too - only question is will it be a matter of 3 days or 4 days. Irrespective of being below average or poor performers, Sehwag and Dhoni manage to retain themselves on the team. Both are bringing shame to Indian cricket by repetitively non performing and denying oppurtunities for younger players. Sehwag has made lot of money through IPL and Dhoni by ads. Both of them dont want or feel the need to exert themselves for the grace of Indian cricket. They dont have any commitment. Both of them need to be dropped immediately. Ideal way to go about is to prepare both fast bouncy and slow pitches in India at different venues and prepare Indian batsmen to be adaptive to different kinds of bowling. Recruit athletic well built and energetic young people as future cricketers. Identify promising young fast bowlers and train them. But the BCCI led by Shameless N. Srinivasan will never learn neither do the shameless bunch of selectors. All of them should be dumped from the board and panels. Non-performes should be quickly identified and rested. Then only Indian Cricket will improve. Stop patronising Dhoni or Sehwag pyrotechnics on flat home grounds. Prepare good quality fast pitches. Be ready to experiment. Or Indian cricket will be dead soon.

Sorry state of Ranji Trophy
by Ganesh S on Jan 23, 2012 04:54 PM

Here is the premier tournament in the entire cricket calendar and what do we have. A team that scores mountains of runs and not looking for an outright win but winning the final based on first innings score. This typifies the mental make up of India and the inept BCCI. Sad that the teams rely on first innings lead for points rather than win, on a tournament that's feeder to the Test teams.

- The T20 should be made non-accessible for juniors
- Teams should be penalized for relying on first innings lead and not showing the winning intent

but have we not heard all these points a thousand times before - all a 'fall on deaf ears'. BCCI will make money but cricket will be the poorer for it. Thinking itself is a problem for BCCI - we only are fools to expect 'big thinking' from such an organization

A PERIODIC PLAYERS RENEWAL PROCESS MISSING COMPLETELY
by damodaran mohan on Jan 22, 2012 04:02 PM

There is nothing new or earth shaking in what Prof. Deano is saying. The main problem is the BCCI administrators have become money drunk arrogant not accountable to any one. They would just arbitrarily keep players in the team inspite of repeated non-performance.No future succession planning , no balance or system of preservation of players with the IPL mix and so on.On the whole professionalism and transparency is lacking with the Cricket academy at Bangalore virtually reduced to an injury rehab centre nothing more. There has to be a contineous process of renewal of players taking place of aging players on decline. That is totally missing.

Enjoy cricket
by shiva on Jan 22, 2012 03:29 PM

We need to enjoy the game and not expect miracles. Though we can be happier if we win, we should also applaud others' feats too. The moment we have favourites within us, we are done for.

Drop Tendulkar
by kart on Jan 22, 2012 02:36 PM  | Hide replies

Tendulkar should be dropped as he is in the team becoz of the 100 he wants to score, as long he does not score 100, he will be there in the team, which would be a liability

As soon as Tendulkar scores the century he should be asked to quit and give the young players chance, I hope tendulkar quits cricket after scoring the century

why you are so worried about him? you mind your business man. No one is going to ask him to retire. Let them play or retire whatever they want? will it benefit you??? For other players let them play and come up. not at the expense of someone axed. Players should not come through shortcuts.

Dean Jones would like all the world to model itsself on Australia
by Maeve Hughes on Jan 22, 2012 02:14 PM  | Hide replies

Jones does not understand the Indian character, values, mentality which is much older and deeper than he realises. Let each race develop its own speciality, value it and contribute to the universal good.
Australian cricket has much to be admired, but there isn't only one pattern for the entire sportswoeld. India has produced more remarkable sportsmen than Australia has done. Don't forget that! And it will do so again.
