Saha might be a good option but Indians need to be mentally tough
by Nikhil Shah on Jan 19, 2012 07:59 AM

With teams like NZ were able to perform well in Australia, the problem with this Indian team was inspite of being a quality team it went down 0-3. The gap between FC cricket in
India and international is purely
psychological. Similarly the home to overseas
gap is also mental in nature.

The media, players and officials have always engaged in hyping up pitches to be quick and pace and bounce being a problem. But there were no demons in the pitch which shows that the mental aspect of becoming tentative affected the Indian top-order.

The two main areas are, individual mental toughness and team dynamics. For individuals, the form of the players, choking, errors, fear of pace and bounce, motivation, positive thinking, self confidence and belief are some of the areas the Indian team can work on future overseas tours.

Team dynamics in sports is divided in to 2 parts:

1. Social dynamics:When players don\'t get along
2. Tasks dynamics: When team cohesion affects the end result required by players tasks.

The problem with Sachin\'s goals like 100 centuries can affect team cohesion and team dynamics. In Social cohesion, when players don\'t get along they dont talk to each other or say things that disturbs them.

Losing your temper is another problem with team cohesion, when LBW decisions like a player of Sachin\'s calibre is given out. It demoralizes the team, and the process of mental dis-integration is ongoing.

Dhoni or Saha, he mental approach needs to improve.

Tendulkar has been given the luxury of choosing when and where he wants to play ODIs.??? Tendulkar has given the luxury to BCCI of choosing him when and where they want him play and save INDIA from embarrassment.

He is not playing against weak team so that young players can get chance to play n feel confident before they play against stronger teams. He is always ready to play for India under tough conditions and has always performed well.

For a team to win a rite mixture of experienced players n young players is required and Playing with SRT will benefit the young players.

Why should VVS & Dravid not sit out in 4th test?
by pradeep agarwal on Jan 18, 2012 06:09 PM

They should show some grace by volunteering to sit out & allow Rohit & Pragyan Ojha to play in Adelaid
