Winning abroad
by Karunakar Patil on Jan 17, 2012 06:11 PM  | Hide replies

India or any other country does not have habit of winning abroad.
First time India won abroad was in Newziland (1968, 3-1) under MAK Pataudi. 36 years after we started playing test cricket. Then major victories came under Ajit Wadekar in 1971 against formidable Windies (1-0). Debutant Sunil Gavaskar scored 65 & 67 runs & also winning run . Gavskars advent was milestone in Indian cricket as Indian spin quatret got runs to bowl out opposition. Wadekar ‘s India defeated England in England creating history & world started counting India as major cricketing nation. This feat was repeated 35 years later By Captain Rahul Dravid by defeating Windies & England in their country (2006). Apart from that we have won in England (1986) under Kapil Deo & in Pakistan under Ganguly/Dravid (2004). We could draw twice in Australia ( Gavaskar 1980, Ganguly 2003) and once in South Africa ( 2010) under Dhoni.
Here I have not considered matches of Zimbabwe, Bangla & Srilanka (first 10 years).
So arguably Rahul Dravid & Ajit Wadekar are best Captains for India as far as winning away Tests Series are concerned.
In the 80 years India could just win 6 Test series abroad. Only thing this time we are loosing very badly.

Two 4-0 whitewashes in a span of 8 months is really shameful. Dhoni should resign & retire from Test Cricket.

Please try to understand this. Losing 01 or 0-4 is not the problem. It is the inability to put up any kind of fight, that is hitting the fans. If all 4 Tests were to go on the wire, and our Team were to lose all of them after a tense struggle, no one would mind that, but not being able to last even 3 days is the ultimate insult. Going by this rate, the next Test could be over in two days.

Singhji, if we had lost after a tense struggle the same fans would say that Indian cricket team lacks nerves :)
As long as series are LOST, they will face criticism

Viru the clean hitter
by malapaka seshasai on Jan 17, 2012 05:35 PM

Virender, I observe is not finishing the stroke by moving the bat completely through the shot. He is half pushing and half defending there by his problem starts. Aussies actually are bowling short of yorker length giving less time for the batsman to read them. So the batter should play the ball as it pictches and should not wait for it to swing and leave them.

India has gone with out of form Shewag,Gambhir,VVS,Uselesses like Dhoni,Kohli where as this ba---d Dhoni dropped class players like Badri,Pujara,Murali Vijay,A.Mukund & D.karthik.
Further the fellow has not given chance to Mukund in England tour, not allowed badri to play in WI but still giving chance to Gambhir & Kohli. These fellows will play once in 20 tests & they will be retained.
Any how good luck for Shewag & let the ba--d Dhoni be sacke from team.
