retire players .........
by asli mumbaikar on Jan 16, 2012 07:00 PM  | Hide replies

I dont think at 38 or 39 ppl shd be playing a sport, much less competitive sport.I feel that there shd a retirement age for cricketers say at 30/31 definitely 35. This way new talent can be initiated into the game.

In fact, we shd fix retirement age for all in India...be it sports, politics, governing bodies, etc.If therre is a limit to punishments or sentences then, retirement age is also necy.

I think all 3 greats in Indian cricket shd have retired a lest 2 or 3 years ago.

Kapil unnecessarily prolonged his career to get 400 wkts, so also, Kumble and now these 3.

They may have bolstered Indian middle a few years ago but right now they have destroyed it for us.

These three players were the ones who brought the team to no 1 status. they only have played well to save the series in south africa. by then are they not aged? that time you need them. now one bad series you do not need them. laxman had not only played badly in this series, for the past one year he has been performing averaging only 25 and now it has become even worse. dravid's technique has become a question mark now since he was bowled 8 times in his last 10 innings.

But sachin has been playing well only even these days. Till now in this series he is the highest run getter. He got a rough decision in the second innings of the perth test otherwise he would have got more runs in that test too. If you want to drop the highest run getter of the series just for the sake of old age then what is the parameter to be playing for India? It is performance or just age.

Well said C M.

Also there was never a replacement for Kapil in the bowling dept despite his struggles. I think Venkatesh Prasad, Abey Kuruvilla, Atul Wasson, even Saurav Ganguly were considered as fast bowlers to replace him. So what exactly did India lose by Kapil playing for few more games? It is not as though a McGrath or Brett Lee was sitting in the wings.

Rahul Dravid - top scorer in Eng.
Sachin - top scorer in SA and Aus.
Laxman - saved 2-3 matches last year.

Raina - utter joke.
Rahane - what to say?
Kohli - flopped in Windies and Eng and Aus until Perth.
Rohit Sharma - couldn't even make ODI team!
Pujara - cried and sat out due to small injury.

Which youngsters exactly do you want?

DO NOT BARK LIKE DOGS
by Ravi House on Jan 16, 2012 06:54 PM

Whenever there is a news about sachin tendulkar these blogger(d)s are coming to this forum and barking at him like dogs. If you do not like him just neglect the news about him. Neglection is the best way to show your disinterest towards anything. Just because of your response websites are getting more hits and medias are getting more TRPS and that is why they are publishing news about him.

Try to learn from the aussies how to respect your legends. How many Tendulkars our country have got so far? Till now just one. Try to preserve it.

How does it matter if sachin is ranked 9th or 100th. he has disgraced this nation by projecting a false image (via media!). his class is purely on paper and on flat pitches which people (with common sense) have now realised.
the money (through IPL or Board) should now be channelised to groom young players (@ 10 yrs) on on foreign grounds. and train them on basics (to play swing and fast bowling)

babu , you are spot on. he is an over rated cricketer surviving on the support of BCCI - pawar , gavaskar , shastri m wadekar etc.

he is unnecessarily blocking a youngster solely for a record . pity he is still away from it after 22 years of cricket.

Which youngster is performing? These youngsters went to West Indies, England and some are there in Australia? Why they dont perform? How many centuries did Gambhir, Sahwag, Kohali, Dhoni,or at least 50s did Vinaykumar Umsh Yadav, Sharma make? Why their performence is not visible to you? Why partition analysis? Does sahwag. dhoni or Gambhir etc get less payment from board. You consider them capable thats why your expectations arehigh from them. Believe real facts.India does not have fast pitches so its players are not used to play on fast pitches? Thats reason why English Newzealand or Australian players loss to Bangladesh, Pakistan or India in asian SLOW pitches. They also make pitches to suite themselves. So do not cry. Have patience. These seniors are there due to their capabilities not by meherbani of somebody.

The best batsman have struggled against pace 7 swing to say the least even from England,Australia,SA & WIndies. The problem with this team is lack of application & desire to fight.I have never seen such abject surrender in living memory by any Indian side in past. The disappointment is more for pathetic performance & top it up with arrogance & cheekiness of Captain thoughtless.

Keep India out of ranks list

Neither the team nor the players deserve any place. No other cricketing nation in the world will be less committed than India. They should be barred from playing test cricket
