Revised for readers pleasure:
Dhoni should retire, because he is not prepared for rigors of test cricket. Sachin, Lara Dravid and Kallis are some of the finest test player to learn from but that could be too late. However, Dhoni’s game is best suited for T20 format and I strongly feel that any achievements in T20 are nothing to be proud of. I was pleased with his efforts during the world cup and would like to wish him the best for tomorrow’s game.

Apologies to all gullie players, whose sentiments have been hurt babdly. Rest assured this will not be repeated.Long live Gullie cricket.

quit now. If this is his thinking then first he should quit captaincy of test team. You cant have leader without future vision. If he thinks that he must quit then quit now!!

Most of the times, we forget he is a wicket keeper and captain who scored 67 international fifties and 12 international hundreds. All the wicket keepers in the previous 3 decades put together would not have scored more than 20 fifties and 3-4 hundreds. We are an amazing country. When they win, we are all Indian. In 2011 WC, we only heard, "Bharat mata ki jai" on the roads. When they lose a few, they are corrupt Biharis, Tams, Gujjus, Andhraites.

This is a worthless statement
by NIRJHAR MAJUMDAR on Jan 12, 2012 10:37 PM  | Hide replies

This statement of Dhoni does not make any sense. If he does not want to continue, let him hang up his boots and say goodbye to all forms of the game.
Actually,he wants people to say "No,no.You are indispesable.Who will lead India in your absence" etc etc.
This is rubbish.Winning tests against top countries is more important than winning world cup.If he does not want to play test cricket, don't consider him for ODIs.
In any case,India's ODI record outside India(against South Africa,Australia, New Zealand etc) is not too great!
This Indian team should not have decided to play four tests at Australia.
More tests,more humiliation.

ru $tup1d? Players have been doing this for years now to focus on one form of game as their health can not support both forms. Even lara did it. U have no understanding of cricket

Dhoni does not want to quit test for health reasons.Read his statement thoroughly.
If you are not physically fit,you take complete rest.
Dhoni has made good runs for India. But he has miles to go to reach the likes of Sachin,Lara and Ponting.Sachin has played for 23 years.Lara has scored 400 runs in a test innings.Ponting has led Australia to great heights.Don't compare Dhoni with them

I mean to say,it is more difficult (and more prestigious)to defeat Australia and England in their backyards.Even a great nation can be out of world cup by just losing one match against Bangladesh. But test matches test your real character.

Dhoni is the great, In England he played Captain’s inning. 10 fours and three sixes with strike rate of 80.21 in very difficult situation. Won World cup, 20-20 and twice Chennai in IPL. Brought Indian team from bottom to top. What more you want? Easy to criticize any one. Remember Illingworth of England the best leading captain but never batted nicely.
All Critics of Mahendrasingh ji Dhoni are foolish.

You could say "India won because of Dhoni" all these days even when it was the other players who toiled hard for it. Now, when 1-2 players floped, u dont want Dhoni to share the blame, what a logic!

So Dubey you want India to loose all matches. Dhoni is all time great Captain after Kapildev. He is man and not machine or Robot.

It's not too late to remove him..
by rajath on Jan 12, 2012 09:15 PM

He shouldn't have been part of the team in the first place let alone as captain. His achievements include ruining the careers of some players(Dravid for one dayers, Munaf Patel for tests by continuously making him sit on the bench). He looks like one of those cunning politicians of U.P,Bihar with little ability to do any worthful things.
