Play straight Rahul Dravid
by Paul Deepak on Jan 08, 2012 12:46 PM  | Hide replies

With so much of experience in playing international cricket, players like Rahul Dravid, Laxman, Sehwag, and even Sachin seem to be learning technical things. Instead of keeping things simple like playing straight and knowing where the off-stump is, they are trying to score of every ball or defend every ball. They are making themselves look like fools and novices. Seems to be that these four want to put an end to Dhoni's captaincy rather than lack of skills in playing in OZ conditions. How come even India A team or U-19 teams are able to perform in these conditions, except these accomplished seniors, who are finding it so difficult to stay at the wicket.

It is an insult for Indian batsmen
by NarasimhaRao O on Jan 08, 2012 09:09 AM  | Hide replies

No matter how many runs scored in their career thay did not play well in the first two tests of ongoing series with Autsralia. How the 7 wickets lost without scoring adding 100 runs in the first inning of the first test, how they managed to score only 191 runs in the first innings of second test. It is insult for all Indian batsmen for not scoring enough runs.

The side effects of IPL are more than apparent. Thanks to IPL chinks/cracks in the batting technique of Gautam Gambir,RahulDravid and Laxman are clarily visible. After all too much money has its side effect.

Mr. Gauty! You haven't made it large... Jao! aur sapna dheko!

Even though Tendulkar's 100th ton is not happening, I do not think he's doing any badly. I'm sure his average since his 99th ton must be 40 plus atleast if not 50 plus. Why then, people are asking for his head? Where are the replacements for Tendulkar, Laxman and Dravid? When we're yet to find the replacement for Ganguly even after many years of his retirement and with the tried ones nowhere up to the mark despite numerous chances given to them on a platter, people are asking for a complete revamp. Grooming of fresh talent should be done in a phased manner and not completely. Does anyone believe, the Pujaras, Rohits,Badris and the Kohlis are anywhere near the class of the Tendulkars, Laxmans and Dravids? I'm afraid, NO! No doubt, problem with India right now is only the batting and with such paltry scores in the kitty even the finest bowlers' morale will be dented. Let the openers first give the team a solid start. Let Mr. Sehwang learn to respect the opposition's bowling and learn to play a longer innings instead of a quick 30 or 40. Let Gambhir be shown the exit doors. Let his dummy second innings knock be not given any weightage. Virat and Dhoni stand completely exposed and instead of wasting time with Kohli, let Rohit be tried. And finally, do not blame as if we lost only because Laxman failed to score big. Just because, he doesn't have a backing and he's an easy meat to point all your fingers...

sachin may not be doing very badly but he is not doing very well either...

see it depends when score 50 plus is good and when it is not good...in normal conditions it is good but when we are chasing 468 runs deficit or when we are following on in such conditions 50 plus score cannot be called a success...

at such times a big hundred or double hundred is needed...like when 10 yrs ago we stopped aussie juggernaut laxman made 281 and dravid 180. at that time those type of scores were needed and can be called good. if they had made 50 plus scores and both had got out on 70-80 you would have said they played well but we would have lost. so at such times really big scores are needed...look at sangakarra's doube century against SA a couple of tests ago...if he would have got out at 7-80 score he would have played sachin-type of innings...

but sachin needs to play sangakkara, dravid, laxman, or kallis type of innings in such desperate time to be called good or rather great innings...

and sachin has very very very few innings of such type...

Mr K Ram, it takes time to get what you are asking...if kohlis and rainas and bradris and pujaras have not played such innings as sachins dravids and laxmans understand that they have not played as many innings or have as many experiences as them either...

when these 3 first arrived on the screen they also initially scored like above players...

sachin record of 10 tests and 18 or so innings is identical to murali vija's score after 10 tests and 18 odd innings...similarly for laxman check his record in his first 3-4 years ....just like today's newcomers...after 15 tests 30 innings or so he too had a very poor record...same about dravid or any big name you want to take...

be patient and give time to these youngsters....

look at what happened in T20 and odis and also some tests...

we played without seniors and won T20 WC, in SA mind you NOT in india...

similarly when dhoni captained his first odi series it was the triangular series in aus when we defeated aus in best of 3 finals and we played with newcomers and defeated aussies who were no. 1 odi team they were playing at home and were at full strength and had just defeated india in test series 2-1 where all seniors were there but had gone back to india after tests and were not playing odis. we won tri series without dravid, laxman, ganguly, kumble, zaheer. also sehwag did not play all matches and sachin was failed badly in league matches scoring 190 odd runs in 8 innings with an average of 23-24 runs...

similarly in tests we started winning in the last 2-3 years when mostly newcomers entered our team...just check win and loss ratios in tests of players like sachin, dravid, laxman, ganguly kumble etc. and check the win and loss ratios in tests of players like dhoni, gambhir, ozha, mishra, sreesanth, ishant etc. after these players came into test team we acutally started to win MORE and also lose LESS.

so dont be so harsh on youngsters and dont go overboard with seniors and have some patience...patience is a virtue...

it will not get into your pea-sized brain that not all things can be said in one line. if you want one-liners go read against pseudo's idiotic posts....if you want some knowledge read my posts...of course there is no compulsion from my side...

you see shambu, you really are shambu...to make people like you understand one has to explain in detail..if i tell you in brief it will pass above your head...

Pitches in India
by Donna Alex on Jan 08, 2012 05:10 AM

The fact is that we don't have seamy pitches. The ball does not swing or even go knee high and hence we see the result when the players go to other Countries. There is no fame if you are a king in those pitches and win tournaments! So, how about raising a big headlines in tomorrow's paper- BCCI plans to relay the Pitches in India to match the International standards!!

Then I suggest you dont waste time here. Instead ask all SC/ST/BC/Minority people to stop watching Cricket. Automatically problems will be solved according to you
