It's a devils' world...
by K Ram on Jan 08, 2012 12:20 PM  | Hide replies

I can understand and digest a Gavaskar or M. Amarnath commenting on VVS Laxman. But, A Gaekwad with a test batting average of 30, one S. Manjrekar with an average of 37 and another gentleman K. More with an average of 25 are commenting on VVS who has a healthy average of 46.5 with 17 centuries and 56 fifties to his credit is the most idiotic thing happening. It's said, "an idle mind is the workshop of devils" and these idle minds with vested interests are trying their best to end someone's career and to build someone else's. Poor them! VVS must have seen this many times before... being made a scapegoat when things go wrong for the team and never given the kind of accolades he deserved when he saved the team from a crisis. He's the most hapless, unsung hero of Indian cricket. I only wish at least his state government (AP) showers him awards fittingly as and when he retires and honours him in the best possible manner. I do not see BCCI doing it anyway.

K Ram, if something is correct then it is correct whoever says it and if something is wrong it is wrong whoever is saying it...If gavaskar says something and it is correct then gaekwad saying the samething is also correct. if gaekward says something which is wrong then it is wrong if even gavaskar says it...

similarly if you think gaekwad has no right to talk about vvs because vvs average more than him then u also dont have any right to speak about raina, kohli, rohit, badri, murali vijay etc. as their average is more than u...probably you have not even played cricket...

K Ram, gaekwad has MORE right to talk about vvs than YOU have a right to talk about kohli raina etc. of course that does not necessarily mean that whatever gaekwad is says is always correct and whatever you say is always wrong...

Mr. Ram, those who commented on VVS have also played competitive test cricket. And they do understand the flaws of a batsman when they see one.

VVS is unable to move his feet against quality fast bowling which is quite evident from the way he is batting and getting out. In Sidney he scored in the second innings when the bounce of the wicket reduced in the 4th innings. But to be very honest, VVS is not Ponting who can fight adversities to rise as a phoenix. On subcontinent soil, VVS is still a good test batsman. But on pitches of England/Australia/South Africs....VVS should stop playing if he doesn't want to reduce his test average.

Continue with IPL and batting will never click
by Left Front on Jan 08, 2012 12:11 PM

Friends, IPL is the main culprit for the poor performance of our batsmen in overseas seaming & bouncing wickets. Even the bowlers have not learnt to maintain line & length which is so very important in test matches. Therefore even in bowler friendly pitches also they struggle and the opposition score easily.

Today, even an aging Ponting can score a century in difficult conditions because the bowlers are wayward and indisciplined whereas the likes of Sachin, Dravid, Laxman, Gambhir all fail because the Aussie bowlers are disciplined and focussed.

Remove IPL, bring back good test match batsmen or India should stop playing test matches abroad.

Batting not clicking because of Sachin's 100th Ton
by Rajesh on Jan 08, 2012 12:11 PM

I feel that all Indian batsmen have decided that they are not going to score century till Sachin completes his 100th ton. As everyone is pretty much aligned in their mind on the fact that personal milestones are much more important then winning or losing a game.

Australians also try to avoid crossing Don Bradman's Triple Century of 334. But that was because of their attitude that "Team comes first". Michael Clarke had ample time to score 400 but due to respect to Bradman & because he wanted to win, he avoided crossing the mark of 334.

So till the time Sachin completes his most important job till now of reaching to 100th ton. India will keep loosing.

Great work Indian Team, We all are very proud of you.

Rajesh

Emergence of key players was too late..
by Nikhil Shah on Jan 08, 2012 12:04 PM

In order for the team to maintain its number one Test status, we cannot blame India's batting greats. Gambhir did well as an opener with Sehwag, to propel India to the top along with some support by Ishant Sharma.

Zaheer could not sustain his fitness levels and most of the burden fell on young Ishant who is now looking very jaded having played 43 Tests in just 3 years.

Had Gambhir. Ishant, Yadav and Varun emerged around 2000, the middle order would still be young enough to exploit the strong Indian middle order batting which was so reliable with Dravid, Sachin and Laxman over the years.

It would be uncerimonious to drop the big three but let them bat freely without pressure in the next two Tests and the coming home Test series. The BCCI should let them decide when they want to retire.

BCCI Meeting
by Sowri Rajan on Jan 08, 2012 10:27 AM  | Hide replies

BCCI should call a meeting of ICC immediately and take following decisions:
1. In order to Sachin to score his 100th century, they should consider adding both first and second innings score.
2. If we opted to bat first, and if the conditions are not suitable, then Dhoni should have the option to change to bowling.
3. Like IPL, we can deploy at least one or two foreign bowlers.
4. Bowlers like Pattinson should not be allowed to bowl more than seven overs in the beginning of the innings

Hi

For Laxman bowler to bowl under arm . In regard to Tendulkar, I would advise bookies to give some money to Australia bowlers for him to comple his century, as team is suffering
