Rick Shaw
SRT is the culprit!!!
by Rick Shaw on Jan 06, 2012 10:40 PM

I agreee with some folks suggesting to drop SRT...as he is the highest run scorer from Indian team on this tour (226 @ modest avg. 56)..which discourages other batsman to perform as they can not achieve even that avg..& do not perform!!! BTW...second highest runs are by Ashwin 143!!! That says it all!!!

Kris Srikanth should resign. He created the mess
by kumar on Jan 06, 2012 10:11 PM  | Hide replies

The Simple answer is Krish Srikanth. He created this whole mess of unhealthy environment. He selected players based on regional feelings. He also selected questionable players so that his tamil nadu players can get selected with no issues.Look at the players he selected from Tamil Nadu

Murali Vijay - Failer miserably
Abhinav Mukund - Failer miserably
Badri -Failer miserably
Dinesh karthik - Forget about it. Too much waste of investment
and Now Ashwin -- Too many chances as a backup player. Was on bench for nearly 2 years in the name of grooming

He made questionable decisions/blunders so that he can select the Tamil nadu players. Questionable decisions are
1) Suresh Raina in tests
2) Yuvraj Singh in tests even after repeated failures
3) Saha
4) parthiv patel as opener in some matches
5) Amit Mishra even after failures
6) Lot of bowlers who bowls only between 110 to 125 kmph

He didn;t give opportunites to following players when there was time to develop backup players fully. He didn;t give opportunities to players like

Rohit Sharma in tests
A Rahane in tests
Pujara in tests and ODIs
Rayudu
M Pandey
Ohja - Instead only Ashwin got opportunities.

This created the big mess and I don;t think anyone can fix this issue.

It is better to remove Srikanth and also BCCI Secretary Srinivasan. They are trying to create a situation where they want full control over the team.

India!!!
by J D on Jan 06, 2012 09:15 PM

India lost just because they lacked aggression. Playing a bania game does not help. When they are out their in competition they should act and react like tigers. But that element was missing on the other hand Australia showed all the aggression and that made all the difference. The body language and the confidence in the India team was not there.

consistent openers
by MAKARAND PAPRIKAR on Jan 06, 2012 06:37 PM

I think prblem with indian team is the lack of consistent opening batsmen .That puts pressure on the middle order.

only expected happening
by roy cherian on Jan 06, 2012 04:36 PM

What is happening in front of our eyes is only what is expected to happen, keep in your memory what really happend in the soil of Egland.Captain Dhoni is a total failure in foreign soil,he is batting as if he has no responsibilty of batting or as though he does not no even the basics of test batting but there is no wonder if we remember the fact that
he ever exceled in foreign lands.it is really appalling to see the aged and famous batting line so often collapsing,it is time for a change in the batting lineup give the responsibility to younsters even if youngesters fail there is a justification for that so also it is really strange to see the nature of pich when india bats it looks like a bowling pick but the moment Australia comes to bat the nature of pich is changing to a batting pich. The new Indian coach is not at all suitable for that role.

Things to learn and improvise....
by Raj AtChennai on Jan 06, 2012 04:28 PM  | Hide replies

1. A new ball or a fresh pitch requires patient batting for the first 15 to 20 overs. It requires foot work, if one has noticed Ricky Ponting and Clarke in their innings they were very light footed. And Shewag, Lakshman and even Dravid did not move when they swung at deliveries pitching outside off stump. This is certainly age factor. Nothing more.
2. Alternate thing they can try is Push the Tailenders on top to see off 15 - 20 overs. I have a feeling Ashwin and Ishant followed by Shewag will be a good move and then the rest follow. Risky but worth a try.
3. Bring in two new pace bowlers in place of Ishant and Kohli. I have a feeling Vinay may click. We do not need a 6th batsman.

Not so long ago CLARKE was getting out as well for a low score as well
---
on his day he is good and We must admit Indian bowlers did help me as well

Not sure if Dale steyen or James anderson bolwing may be things will be different
=====================
as for Indian Batsmen
This time aussies did a lot of homework and trapped well with well laid out plans
--
Sachin scored - 74 and 31
sydney - 42 and 80

even Dravid got 60 plus in melb

laxman got out early in melb
he got set in syd with 66 but got out due to a ball that just carassed the stumps at bails height

same is with Sachins out in syd 2nd innings
====
yes india should have scored better in syd test Ist innings better
==================
Melb test
Indian batsmen took it easy and did not pad up defensively (lift the bat ) and dig in for a big innings

melb test was in Indias favour
India gave it away
----
syd test Indians gave away 1st innings battings

Shehwag took it easy
Gambhir took it easy - Nicking even though he knows he got out in melb

Even Ponting is of the same age.. so wht is ur point?...and wht is this pushing tailenders on top?.. this shows u have not played cricket outside ur backyard.... The batsmen who play at the top are the best equipped with the technique of the lot.. the bowlers cant last 10 ball with the new ball swinging and jumping..
