The most promising youngster among the available pool of talent, one Virat Kohli, scored 11 in the 1st innings and a FIRST BALL GOLDEN DUCK in the 2nd innings of the 1st Test.

Why not replace all the 30'ish guys from Sehwag, Gambhir, Dravid, Sachin, Laxman, etc and replace them with such gems. That would ensure that future Test matches doesn't even continue for more than a couple of days.

I wish the team would focus on winning and getting back into the series , than this obsession with sachin's recoprds which are getting nauseous.

I dont understand what is the point in scoring centuries after centuries when you can get the team out of difficult situation, i understand you can't get the team out of difficult situation every time but at least 4 out of 10 times you need to get the team out of tough situation, You will be remembered in history for ever if you do it, you wont be remembered if you keep your stats attractive becoz today you score first 200 in ODI tomorrow someone like shewag will score 219 and you will be forgotten, everyone will remember dhoni's worldcup knock, everyone will remember vvs laxman's knock against aus in test, everyone remembers sachin's knock in sahrjah ..where are you heading sachin???

how old are you? just look some 10 years back and imagine where u the same in terms of how were ur day to day activities..and compare it with now..u know the difference yet you still are able to handle the pressures of daily lives smoothly..same way, any person between 20-25 would have raw muscle power and there would be imbalance between the mind and body. between 25-35, the mind starts to grow stronger and its the best time for any one for the body will be in a balanced state since mind and body coordinate with each other..thats y, sachin used to bat like sehwag till his 30th year or so..after that, he changed his batting style yet he had delivered...so be patient with him, he only knows when to hang up his boots..

he might be mentally good and strong, but he has to go, no point in playing good cricket, the ultimate is we have to win. We might find a better batsman than sachin who is a match winner but dont score 100s as consistent. We need match finishers and I sure we are bound to get someone with the amount of passion for cricket in india. we might bring our own bevan, hussey.

how can u expect match finishin inning from a no.4 batsman, no. 1-4 batsman set a platform for no. 6 or 7 batsman who is now dhoni for india & he always play for his average every time he play with tail-enders he stays non-striker end so when team get all-out he remains not-out & get improve his average

its high time that sachin, dravid and laxman retired.. and made way for some more youngsters. looks like sachin's 100th 100 is more important than the team's victory. i'll pray he doesn't get his 100th 100 until he retires.

Yea, the same Rohit who after umpteenth chances averages a mammoth 27 in ODI cricket .... that average itself makes him eligible for a spot in the Test team.

Deja vu?
by Rangarajan Tallam on Jan 02, 2012 10:17 AM  | Hide replies

Planning for Sachin, the Aussies surely have put a lot of thought in to their bowling, much like the English did just a few months ago.

If they continue to bowl to him in exactly the same areas, they will get him out in a similar manner each and every time. I believe the Aussies are capable of doing this.

Not to mention the added pressure on him to take it back to the Aussies, when the rest of the batsmen are parading in and out.

All the fluff above, regarding his meticulous practice sessions, don't count for much. 100 or no 100, I'd like to see him bat with his flair, while eschewing sub-continent tendencies to drive off the front foot and away from his body.

As for India's chances, I do not have any realistic hopes.

Hey Rocky...if it wasn't for sachin and rahul, india won't have crossed 200 in the first innings as well...remember 214 /2 to 282 all out...if u drop these so called oldies, then be ready to face the same fate as Windies or Aussies after their their greats retired

the expectations
by veerapuram dharan on Jan 02, 2012 10:16 AM  | Hide replies

the expectations for the trio are more than the expectations for the incumbents..suppose if the trio gets into the field, the minimum expectation from them is a century and they will always ensure they score a fifty at the least..but for manoj, rohit or virat, the minimum expectation would be a 20 or a 30 and if they score a fifty, they exceed the expectations..from the team point of u, whom do we need the most? hence, it was just one bad series for laxman in eng and one bad test match at mcg. rahul and sachin have lived upto their minimum expectations...lets give our support to them than gunning for their heads..

Absolutely true...the Indian cricket fans who want these guys to retire must understand that unless the young guns step up the throttle and show maturity and consistency...Virat is young and extremely talented, so is Rohit. They have to prove their temperament in test cricket

What Australian media are they speaking about? Our own media is hying this century so much!
I still dont get the point of adding centuries done in tests & ODIs and making 100 out of it :)
Both are different domains. If centuries in tests & ODIs can be clubbed, why not T20? It is also a form of international cricket.

Nenblow, 5 out of the 8 batsmen failed to make an impact in MCG. "So many young talents" did not play well in MCG. First, get someone who bats well in bouncy pitches. Then, Sac/Dra/Lax can retire.
