Malinga's strategy
by anand c on Feb 29, 2012 10:32 AM  | Hide replies

One would be surprised as to what strategy Malinga had against Kohli or Raina. It is hard to beleive that a bowler of his stature , havin so much of exp.. keeps bowling low ful tosses even when he is getting hit for 6's and 4's. why he did not do the following in the 24 run over:
1. Vary pace of the ball - slow balls
2. No short deliveries?
3. Did not change to round the wicket
4. Not ever Mahela came to talk to him between the over to ask him to review his plan.. because that over ensured we got the runs with bonus points

Only Malinga/Mahela can answer these questions

I hope so. Even if you bowl 6 yorkers out of 6 balls, 3 balls will turned to low full tosses. Now people will forgive the team (like they did after England was thrashed 5-0 in ODIs in India) for getting the 4-0 thrashing from Australia. Sick of cricket team

Agree with you. It was quite obvious to knowlegable lot that the Sri Lankans were not doing their utmost to stop the run flow (or take wickets) as if the fate of the match was decided much earlier.

It was a batting pitch. Everybody made runs. Nothing great about Kohli or India. Once they play in a bowling pitch, they will be all at sea.

Sachin is an atom compared to Kohli !!
by Against Fools on Feb 29, 2012 10:17 AM  | Hide replies

Differences between Virat Kohli and Plaster Baba

1) Virat is fearless and brave. Sachin is a coward.

2) Virat is of average to good height capable of facing fast bowlers. Sachin is a short guy who cannot face bouncy bowling

2) Virat plays fast bouncy swing bowling on quality pitches and Spin bowling on slow pitches alike. Sachin is an absolute cropper against quality swing bowling.

3) In crucial do-or-die situations, Sachin is non-dependable. Virat proved in today's match that he is effective against the most toughest of challenges.

4) Sachin plays for personal milestones. Virat plays for Team victory.

5) Fanatics in this forum boast of Sachin pyrotechnics in Sharjah and last CB series against weak Australian attacks which lacked crucial fast bowlers and players. If the same oppurtunities were provided to Virat, he would have made mince meat of the Aussie attack.

6) Virat is the real hero of India. Sachin is the big zero of India who has enjoyed too much of kindness from foolish selectors, brainless section of the public and last but not the least, totally useless Pakistani supporters who disguise as Sachin fans in this forum.

Y'day match was not fair. Malinga was giving lot of runs. still they continued him. He was not bowling his yorkar. There was no short ball to Raina. They did not give ball to their spinners much.

Your statement for Sachin presently o.k. If you watch his earlier innings, you would have not written these things about him. This is time for him to retire, but he is handing around.

I think you are 19-20 years old immature guy, who doesn't understand different phases of life in one's life so you can't understand what sachin has done for Indian cricket. Even in this match Sachin and Sehwag gave blazing start to India. So dont underestimate the value of few great Indians.

How this is achieved?
by Rama Krishna on Feb 29, 2012 10:12 AM  | Hide replies

1. No bouncers bowled to Raina despite this is a well known weekness of Raina.
2. Keep short fine leg and Lankans bowled low fulltosses bowled on the legs. Just deflect and get an easy four.
3. Stakes were high. Only a few "intelligent people" can predict that the target of 321 can be achieved within 40 overs.
4. Indians are preparing for IPL.
