Except for Wadekar and Bedi were top class players and tactical captains. Now we have clueless Dhoni and reckless Sehwag.

The kapildev treatment
by Ashish Kumar on Feb 26, 2012 06:37 PM

Kapil dev brought the WC in 1983. Singed by his increasing popularity all the regional chietains conspired against him with their stooges in tow. Outcome! in 1985 Kapil made way for Sunil Gavaskar. How history repeats itself!

COUNTRY OF 130 MILLION-TO REPLACE SACHIN ATLEAST WITH ONE:
by Srinivasan Renganathan on Feb 23, 2012 09:25 PM

To all youngisthans Justify these (Mongisthans) players contribution in the team.
1.Rohit Sharma.
2.Sewhag.
3.Zaheer Khan.
4.Praveen Kumar.
5.Raina.
6.Jadeja.
FYI, Gambhir in the last 2 years had played only 3 worthful innings. Virat Kohli is just a flash in the pan without any consistency. Irfan Pathan can never be used as a main bowler but only as a supporting 6th bowler. Ashwin , Rahul Sharma , Umesh & Vinay are the only new comers in the teams. Other fellows had minumum players 70-80 matches between them.
Then why blame Sachin alone. Fools who quote ponting as an example should realise that australians are having minimum 5 worthful players to replace ponting like Watson, Mitchell Marsh.. etc..
But with whom are you going to replace Sachin, with. Manoj Tiwary????? How many centuries did he hit. If the same Sewhag who scored 219 in ODI’s a few months back is struggling, what will a Tiwary, Rahace can do. If they should be rotated, let Greats like Rohit Sharma, Raina, Jadeja be replaced with & not with Sachin. Sachin is not playing well, but that dosent mean that others are playing wonderfully. Maximum Rahane will score 5 & Tiwari will score 8 in Australian conditions presently. So, it is useless to blame Sachin alone.
Afterall how much did Dhoni scored in the tests. If Dhoni, with his useless Helicopter shot can be in the team, anybody can be i

Dhoni should step down
by mahesh gupta on Feb 26, 2012 06:03 PM  | Hide replies

Following reasons..

1.He is into favouritism now. He is playing Jadeja for no reasons. He was apprehensive to make him bowl and in batting I don't think he is anywhere.

2.Rotation policy at the time when we have two wins spoiled the momentum.

3.He himself comes when either he has nothing to do or he can't do anything. He had to come at no. 4

4.Raina, Gambhir and Sehwag- their technique don't suit bouncy wickets so we have to decide are we happy with them performing on subcontinent or we want team which can do well overseas too.

4.Criticizing individuals either in press conference or in dressing room is proving that captain wants to escape from blame.

5.Virat should be made captain. It seems funny and ilogical but for long term prospective he is the only one

I agree with you that Dhoni needs to go now. He has failed to provide leadership to the team and his own performance as wicketkeeper does not meet the level expected.

He promotes favoritism - supporting players from UP and Chennai SK. His persistence with Raina, RP Singh, Chawla, M Vijai, Ashwin, etc. defies logic despite their repeated failures.

He is also divisive and likes to trash talk in front of media. These are not qualities of a captain and reflects his lack of basic leadership skills.

Remember, when he promoted Raina as vice captain over Yuvraj and Gambhir. And how he ridiculed his senior player Harbhajan and his dead father in an advertisement for a whiskey. He has successfully eliminated Dravid and Laxman. Now he wants to show doors to Tendulkar. Him including Gambhir as a senior is also baffling. Gambhir is younger than Dhoni and has been one of the leading scorer in this trip. his inclusion in the rotation shows Dhoni's dislike for Gambhir taking priority over selecting the best team to win the game.

His failure to pin point to the reason for defeat shows his blame all but me attitude. As captain, his field placements and bowling changes are irrational and he never seem to learn from his mistakes. It is obvious now that his success was surely masterminded by Gary Kirsten and individual brilliance of Yuvraj, Zaheer. Harbhajan, and Tendulkar.

Clearly, Mr. Dhoni, you have failed to make it "different' or "large".

i agree with u . How r raina and jadeja being included . They seem to be relatives of dhoni . Also 3 players from delhi is too much. Sehawag and gambhir must be shown door.

Plain truth

We cannot perform on lively wickets. SRT is beyond sell by date. Other batsmen flounder on pacy, bouncy wickets; cannot take the heat! Our glory days are truly over! We relied only on stalwarts who are plain old now; no forward planning like other teams! Get some other pastime like the IPL tamashas

No reason to be discouraged. But there sure is reason enough to pick a brand new team. Give new comers a chance. The current crop of players are too jaded. They also make too much money to be any good. Posing for the media is not the same as doing well on the field.
