The rule should be applicable to all....
by rasheed basha on Feb 23, 2012 11:59 AM

The rule of perform or perish should be applicable to all the players of the team. We should not target a selected group of players calling them as senior players may not be acceptable. Look at the average of the Dhoni during the test series and the average of the suresh raina. Are they not be punished because of their poor form? As Manjrekar rightly said that the selection does not have the luxury of the support of the fans and media. If you rest Dhoni, i guess it will be another "Ann Movement" in India. It is the fans and media how has to support the selector so that the young guys with aspiration to represent India will get a chance based on their performance.

Surprisingly, we allow the players to gain the lost form at the cost of nation. We will not allow them to go and play the domestic cricket and gain the form. We give as many chances as required so that the player can hit a hundred and then goes into out form again.

Rahul Dravid is the only player at the senior level, to the best of my knowledge, is playing the ranji matches. I think the seniors should learn from hi.

Sachin & Sehwag too "slow"
by Chandan Matta on Feb 23, 2012 11:53 AM  | Hide replies

I think success has come to Dhoni's head and thats why he is saying all this for seniors like sachin, sehwag and gambhir.Dhoni shud think who won him the 20-20 world cup in 2007 and the one day world cup last yr.if all three of those so called "slow" fielders won't be there, can india won the 50 over world cup. I jst want to ask dhoni that if all three will be out of the team then can india beat even a zimbabwe team, who recently scored 200 against NZ in a 20-20 match?

Your comments make one believe that India is currently a world beater with these so called legends......
it would make no difference to the indian team whether these players play or not...
India will always be lions at home and cats away.....
How many overseas tours did India win against Aus, England, SA and WI when the so called legends were at their prime?????

At least we have drawn the series (won in ENG and WI), yes we have lost but in 2-1 or 1-0 difference. Not in this humiliating fashion.

Sachin and Sehwag must retire...
by Indian on Feb 23, 2012 11:16 AM  | Hide replies

Continuing with sehwag and sachin does not serve india's interests anymore.
I do not know how these two ageing players would contribute to Indian cricket in coming years.
Instead its best to field promising youngsters so that they get some valuable exposure and r not relegated to just ranji and IPL games...

Sachin is playing well.In 2011,400 runs in WC and IPL,1 ton against South Africa, and 91,50,40.l etc against England.
In 2012,91,94,73,80,70 etc etc aginst westindies and Australia. It says that he is still playing better than all these youngsters like Virat,Raina,Rohit etc.
