Without voluntarily retiring these self-serving/shameless leeches viz Sachin/Ganguly/Lakshman/Dravid/Gavaskar/Kapil/Ravi Shastri hegemony denied opportunities of many young/talented BC/SC/ST/Minority players.

Exclude Kapil from the list. Also since he is BC he will not fit into your second category. Do you know what you are writing?

Said truly. Agreed sachin had ruined hopes of many young batsmen in the past and still doing with that.
Great sportsmanship & real citizen of the country. Wonderful of Ponting to accept that he does not warrant his place in the national team due to lack of performances in the recent times. How many cricketers can boldly come out with such statement?? Great example for budding cricketors & this confirms that the playing 11 in the Australian squad is based on merit & not money or influence....Go Ponting go!!! Have a wonderful family life ahead...you are a true inspiration.

"He won three World Cups in his 17-year career, two as captain"...were u sleeping while reading this ?
“ For All sachin baiters who try to compare Ponting with Sachin. There is no comparison. What ponting can do , Sachin Can do better. The other day Ponting failed for once against Us. Sachin failed miserably 2nd time in succession against Aussies. Sachin is definitely better than Ponting. Ponting scored 7 , The greatest scored 3. Ponting lasted 28 balls , the greatest only 12.
Now ponting has been dropped by Aussie selectors , Sachin is still around coz India selectors want him to continue.
Therefore Sachin baiters now hopefully you are convinced that Sachin is way ahead of Ponting.

Single handed won the world cup final 2003 against India. Great player but not a great human being.

My Dear Lady,, u r Mistaken,, I agree Sachin has not won many matches SINGLE HANDEDLY as PONTING but Still Sachin is the Greater player than Ponting... The Number of Man of the Match and Series AWARDS sachin has got shows the Number of Matches he has won for India...The total number of Man of the Matches and Series won is no where equal to that of Ponting...

I mean can anybody hook a short ball better than him,,that front leg in the air and that hook,,,lovely,,,,,,way to go Ricky,,,but now dont come and play in IPL, we dont need you,,,see ya
Sorry but I lost complete respect for this man after his Anti-India vendetaa. It came clear when he tried to take Aussie players union on hi side and restrict Aussie players from playing in IPL on security ground.
He is a great cricket player but the third class human being and I care less about this POS..
