Kapil was truly real all- rounder of India & should say one of best for all time. Imran, Bothom & Hadely were always compared with him but notbody in test & ODI near to his records. As a captain he was one of the best till date, he was the one who really injected team India to play for win aggresivily. No match for him. Kaash ek aur Kapil jaisa true all rounder India mai paida ho

More than that he was a hero... most of his top performances are when others completely failed. When the going gets tough the tough get going. Case in point - 175no against zim, 4 consecutive sixes to score the 24 needed to save a follow-on, taking 8 aussie wickets with a fever.

Yes. The parents of your neighbours were the best and well above the standards of your parents and your parents are no match to them.

imra, botham and hadlee were no where near kapil.he is the best indian cricketer ever produced as agreed by the wisdom cricket magazine.

Hadlee and Botham were excellent all rounders in test cricket but couldn't repeat their success in ODI format.Kapil and Imran excelled in both formats and were captains of WC winning teams.

k - just saw that it was in the first innings of a test, my bad.

if not first innings then u will find many teams achieved that record incl recent test series in SA, where SA bowled out in 96 runs after dismiss Aus in 49 odd runs..
I believe even in one-dayers, he was out only once in One-dayers in 1989 Nehru Cup against Sri Lanka, where it was clear it was in by two feet at least..those were the days when there were no third-umpire referrals.

Not true, Gopal. He was run out more times in ODIs. I remember he was once run out when he slipped in Australia while trying to get back to his crease and Healy threw the stumps down.

Once in a match against Pakisthan in 1987(just before world cup), Kapil went for suicidal run. He was much away from crease when the ball reached the bowler from fielder. But Manoj prabhakar sacrificed his wicket by moving out of his crease at batting position.

Yes,Absolutely correct. The best that current youngsters can do is to watch the video tapes of cricketing legend bowlers so that they can at least know there existed such a fast bowling even in Indian pitches.

Very True. We will have to wait for generations to get another Kapil Dev, a true team player, who always played for India. Hats off to you KAPIL.

Yes., its absolutely true. very difficult to see nowadays cricketers like Kapil Dev who played for the country., also we had quite a lot of cricketers who put their heart and soul and bravely saved many test matches from defeat. we can recall true Indian players Kirmani, Ravi shastri,Mohinder amarnath and others who despite dangerous pace bowling attacks of West Indies, Australia and other countries, managed to save many many test matches. Nowadays we hardly see anyone except a very very few who is putting his heart and soul and playing for the prestige of the country.

Mate, you have forgotten Sunil Gavaskar, who never played with helmet even when he was facing legends like Andy Roberts, Joel Garner on WI pitches.

Kapil Dev was an ordinary medium pacer who stretched his career merely to break Hadlee's record of 431 Test Wickets.
He was really pathetic to watch in his last few years.

try to bowl 20 overs per day and u will know.all the fast bowlers including imran khan hunted in pairs,so they were able to bowl fast.but kapil was unlucky as had to be content with a spinner as his partner.
