Gavaskar going the Bedi way
by Sukumar Chandrasekhar on Feb 08, 2012 10:38 AM

Gavaskar's problem is with the BCCI. He is so bitter that he cannot see anything good happening with Indian cricket. The rotation policy is best to ensure the young middle order is not disturbed and we also have some experience at the top. On the bowling front we have to preserve Zaheer and not play him in all the matches. I wish we had a good wicketkeeper batsmen to provide some rest to Dhoni.
Tomorrow if BCCI agree to pay Mr Gavaskar, he will be all praise for the rotation policy.

Why Ashwin
by Vijay on Feb 08, 2012 08:25 AM

I think Ashwin can give in for Jadeja as the later can be a better bat and more athletic. Ashwin has looked more jaded and also pathetic when it comes to running. His pyrotechnics with word are not truly reflected in actions.

We are going back to issues with the World Cup
by Nikhil Shah on Feb 07, 2012 11:59 PM

Looking at the conditions in Australia, the seamers, even though in the 130kph range had a better chance than the spinners. Just like the WC in India the choice of the bowling attack remains inconsistent.

Part of the problem with Dhoni is his strong preference for Praveen Kumar. The arguments for Jadeja are similar to Kaif and Ajay Jadeja. They are great fielders but leaking 41 runs in 2.4 overs simply just is too much to overcome.

India will now have to go with skill rather than fielding ability. Irfan is out of practice, so the lineup has to be

Sachin Sehwag Gambhir Kohli Raina Dhoni

and the bowling attack

Zaheer Vinay Praveen Ashwin and Rahul Sharma

Since Irfan is out of match practice, and though Jadeja is brilliant in the field, India still need to go with batting and bowling skills.

now gavaskar slams rotation, are seniors senile now
by D S on Feb 07, 2012 10:55 PM  | Hide replies

rotation means -
ANYONE WHO DOES NOT STEP UP CAN BE ROTATED. does not matter if he is tendulkar or gambhir or sehwag or ...

it will allow chance for rahane who did well in england 1 dayers. tendulkar will be forced to step up.

Rotation is the way forward. Australia have planned the same thing In fact Tendulkar should retire from ODIs after this series and then he, Dravid and Laxman should be rotated in Tests from now on, with not more than one or two of them in the team at the same time.

gavaskar is without a job nowadays
by krishna v on Feb 07, 2012 10:47 PM  | Hide replies

so he is resorting to free commentary.he is past his prime. he does'nt understand current cricket and difficulties like excessive schedules and how the fielding has upgraded. in his days, he could have relaxed whole day in the slips. but now a sachin, sehwag will need to run around.so how can u field them whole day..if we drop them.. it is the same gavaskar will start crying foul.so do not bother about gavaskar comments, we would like to hear a manjrekar,vengsarkar..they speak more cricketing sense.

gavaskar is totally biased.

nowadays he has been finding fault with each n every move of bcci. coz his payment is stopped by them.

moreover, gavaskar vl not protest whenever, any laxman, dravid or sehwag is rested. but once his pet sachin is thought of being rested (forget rested but even thinking of resting him), he vl start all non-sense. first odi viru was rested, (however, he shud hv been dropped), now is the turn of gambhir or sachin. then why is such hue n cry! both gambhir n sachin need to b rested or rather dropped.

Even before anything has happened, dont jump to the conclusion that he is defending his pet Sachin. What he says is true, if WC 2015 was the target, why select seniors?
