The captain who says 'there is always tomorrow'
by Bhasmasur on Feb 02, 2012 07:30 AM  | Hide replies

When a captain says 'There is always a tomorrow" then the team is destined to fail.

The objective should be to win it today as there is no tomorrow

Dhoni has openly said that this is just a sport. How wrong he is!! He is conviniently forgetting that this is a Modern day sport. And when you play at the higest level, it's no less then being at the war..

I am convinced that India needs a new captain, if we want success.

What a logic! When the team is despondent, chips are down, players losing their confidence what better words can there be to motivate! Fail to understand the merit of the argument. Dhoni is still the best man around to do the job. Sack a couple of gambhirs and sewags before passing judgement on dhoni.

ok,then please explain me what's the meaning of all such statements that Dhoni has made. Why would he use Media to make such statements to motivate his team. Make any Sense?

Have you ever heard such thing from any other captain of the top sides? Answer is NO. Why? Because they just take thing as 'Just a sport'. They want to win at any cost..

By the way, I do agree with you on your Sehwag and Gambhir comments.

I am of the opinion that captain should not take all the blame for the losses in Eng and Aus.

But at the same time, Dhoni comprehenssively failed to perform. His keeping was average in Tests and batting was pathetic to say the list. Based on all that, he doesn't deserv a spot in the team.

And we can't have nonplaying player as Captain and so we need a new captain..

Why not Prabodh Ji, if he can get all the Praises, even the tag of The Greatest Captain Ever without contributing Anything significant except for the Final in the WC? He Deserves all these. Can you please tell me honestly, is he a Great(even Good) Captain or a Lucky Captain who was reaping Results of the Goods done by his former Captains. Can you please name any significant player who has been nurtured by Dhoni and got succeeded? I repeatedly posted during the WC that This man has got MUCH MUCH MORE than what he actually deserved. And barring a few I got harsh replies. Everybody went gaga over the WC win and now the Other side. But this man has not Changed. He could not perform then, He can not perform now, not sure whether he ever will.

Dhoni's captaincy
by jayaram krishna rao on Feb 01, 2012 11:54 PM

I agree with Wasim Akram's views though he has no locus standi in governing of our cricket. It is usual in the subcontinental politics of choosing cricketers on past laurels than on present form. The selectors themselves are no world beaters, record-wise and hence do not have in them to drop players who are not performing. However, when we are defeated, all the blame comes on the captain. What can the captain do if other ten players fail collectively with him ?The captain should have the luxury of failing to perform with bat/ ball but still lead the team to victory. What can be done if the world's best batsmen/ bowlers fail to perform and expect the captain to bail the team out

who is this clown to talk about Indian cricket? this idiot should be ignored; dhoni is a joker; his bat went further than his ball today and the whole stadium, 50000 persons, were guffawing; what a captain; comes at the end of the game when all is lost and tries to be something; get rid of him and quite a few others.

whether we like it or not, test cricket is the ultimate thing and not the tamashas which go by the name t20 or one day cricket. and in recent years we have performed rather poorly in foreign soils when the opposition is good. it brings back to the question the ability and performance of saurav ganguly as the captain in foreign soils. whether one likes him or not, he had succeeded putting fears into the minds of the opposition including the redoubtable steve waugh. it is now that the cricketing fraternity in india is beginning to realise the strength of ganguly as a captain. we all know the role played by kiran more and greg chappell supported by raj singh dungarpur on the removal of ganguly as the captain. that was the biggest mistake that the cricket board made. the other big mistake was to have greg chappell as the coach. here ganguly was also personally to be blamed. chappell's only contribution was to destroy the world class ability of irfan pathan as a bowler to a medium grade all rounder. it will be long before we recover from the damage done by more and chappell.

It was not Ganguly but the team. Rahul Dravid's record as a test captain are better than Ganguly. Do you recall the tour to Newzealand in 2001-2002 when India was whitewashed. If you check the records you will find Ganguly's average was lower than sreenath's. And if you look at the performances it was a Rahul Dravid or a Sachin or a VVS who flourished that time. No point in highlighting Ganguly's performance. His failures are many foremost being his attitude for which he was rightly removed. His only job as a commentator now is to make believe others that he was a better captain whereas there are so many of them right from Ajit Wadekar to Kapildev to Azharuddin and Even Rahul Dravid and Anil Kumble who have won test matches for India against formidable adversaries. No one misses Ganguly excepting he himself and a few orders like you.

What a shame in being sacked as a test captain on grounds of non performance. Only consolation he can draw is that the boot was not shown to him earlier!!
