Return to history?
by Manoj Dev on Dec 18, 2012 07:14 AM

This reminds me of the long years when a win for India was most rare. In early sixties once India defeated England in Calcutta. Then it became a national rejoice. Schools & colleges closed for the day; work came to stand still throghout the country. The present Indian team - under its captain who does not want to run away from his great resposibilities - can take the credit to start India back into those times of fifties, sixties and sventies.

"It doesn't surprise Indians the loss to England in the absence of Rahul Dravid and as well Laxman and Kumble."

RETIRE / RESIGN WHY ??
by Shilpa Mehta on Dec 17, 2012 06:56 PM  | Hide replies

Bad or lean patch do happen in everyone’s career .
No need retire . Same team should continue barring minor changes .
Any major changes will result in even bigger losses . Whom will take ??
Are any great players sitting outside ?? We’ve to manage the show with same lot .
Kohli played very good since last one year but failed badly in this series that too at home .
But scored brilliant century in this test . Should he retire ??
After brief failure , MSD played match saving innings . Should he resign as captain ??
Taking retirement / resigning is surrending in cowardness .
Player should have courage to overcome failure & bounce back strongly .

Introspect and Go Forward !

Series is over now.

The Obvious : UNANIMOUS OPINION THAT THIS INDIAN TEAM IS NOT WORTHY OF BEING RETAINED FOR FUTURE TESTS.

Possibilities : 1. AS is the BCCI's wont, make some COSMETIC changes in the guise of the usual sloganeering that a mix of EXPERIENCE and YOUTH is what needed. 2. Make some REAL serious changes even if unpalatable in an attempt to resurrect and relive Indian Cricket and its glory.

Option number 1 will help individual players at the cost of national cicketing pride.

Option number 2 will be a boost to the game and the pride of India while a few individual players will be disgruntled.

There cannot be a more appropriate time to effect Option number 2 in the larger interest of the game.

Who should represent the new team ?

Murali Vijay, Rahane, Kohli, Pujara, Manoj Tiwary (Rohit), Dinesh Karthik (Saha), Irfan, Ashwin, Ohja, Ishanth, Dinda(umesh yadav), Chawla and two or three more. Captain : a batsman; Vice-captain: a bowler preferably a spinner.

It will not take more than two years to make this a star team. The benefits will be in terms of enhanced self-esteem, self-confidence, good relationship on and off the field, better performance, not an iota of EGO, favourable attitude, decorous on and off field conduct, and what more can one would want !

It is easier said than done but this is the BEST medicine/surgery that the Indian team needs at this critical juncture.
