Baffling attitude
by Saurav Sarkar on Dec 16, 2012 09:53 PM  | Hide replies

If a series is lost 2-1 or 3-1, what difference it will make! India is in a must win situation to save the home series but surprisingly adopted a safety first approach instead a desperate strategy by wasting an hour, which will actually help the Englishmen. This way Dhoni also denied the bowlers to take advantage of morning pitch when the new ball does a bit and in the 1st Innings Ishant Sharma bowled really well. This happens when the Team is low in confidence and the thinktank is not clear on its priority. It is highly unlikely that India will get England all out by lunch and even if they do so it will be difficult to chase almost 200-225 runs. I think after this test irrespective of the outcome selectors should aim to build a team for future under a new captain with positive attitude. Let the new captain learn on the job even if there are a few setbacks, the best of Indian captains like Pataudi and Ganguly are never groomed to lead the side they learnt on the job.

This also happens when you are unsure about loyalty of your team-mates. Team India is passinng through one such phase. Mohinder has brought the war into open. I suspect with Dhoni having proned his credentials in the first inning the Gambhir is in for tough time.

Dhoni is the most selfish cricketer
by Deshbhakth Hindu on Dec 16, 2012 09:41 PM  | Hide replies

He shamelessly that he does not want to resign from captaincy. The main reason is that he will lose out on endorsements.
He ran a single run to get his personal hundred and got run out when team needed him to stay at the crease and surpass England. By this selfish innings he just wanted to prove that he is in form and nothing else.
He delayed the declaration and asked Ashwin and Ojha to bat slowly today because he is not worried now of the result as his place is now fixed as player after scoring 99.

Name a captain who will lead in place of MSD. Where were these comments when India won T20 & ICC world cup under MSD captaincy?
We really forget things quickly. Let the selectors decide. If you really want to improve India go for a talented coach.

Cricket woes
by Bodh Ramdeo on Dec 16, 2012 09:12 PM

Like snatching defeat from the jaws of victory???
Not really...not even close....any chance of the home team winning this game is next to zilch, so in effect, the visitors will romp home victorious.
This should put a stop to all the endless hours spent talking about the "abilities" of the "great" players
Maybe it's time to zero-in on other deserving sports like soccer, hockey, rugby etc....
cricket has been all played-out!

Ravichandran Ashwin is playing (batting)well in all test series we have seen in last one year. He deserves no 3 position in batting order.

ishant and ashwin both are good in test match atleast with their bats. promote them as our heroes are performing like zeroes ... all seniors should learn how to defend the cricket ball from them....

The team was actually afraid of losing. That is why they employed defensive tactics throughout the match. They never showed any intent to win this match and level the series. Their only aim seems to be avoid more damage. But they should realize that the damage has already been done in the first three matches itself.
