BCCI and the Pitch Discussion
by Arv Singh on Dec 15, 2012 10:32 PM

There is nothing wrong in preparing the pitch to support the local team. Everyone does that. Pakistan and Newzealand are notorious for doctoring the pitches. But the team coach and captain also needs a plan for the pitch.

Looks like Dumb groundsmen prepare poor pitches as dictated by Dumber Dhoni, but Dumbest Fletcher and Dhoni can't execute a plan to make use of the pitch.

We need more independent minded people like Mohinder Amarnath, Bedi, Dravid and Prabir Mukherjee to clean up the system.

We also need an independent investigator to investigate the following:

1. How come Srinivasan, the president of BCCI was able to own his own private team - CSK in the IPL?

2. The bartering show of naming price for the players seems like a big scam. How come a lowly player like Jadeja was priced higher than all worldwide players? Where did that money go? Who else benefited from it?

3. How much money was exchanged for licensing teams in IPL? How were teams like Deccan Chargers and Kochin were disqualified and new teams selected?

4. How does BCCI award a test, ODI, or T20 game to a field? Some seemed to be favored more than the other.

5. How independent is the selection process? Remember how secretary of IHF was arrested taking bribe for selection in the national team. Does money play a role in cricket too?

6. Was Mohinder Amarnath sacked because he refused to be a rubber stamp for Srini and Dhoni?

Bring back DRAVID as Test Captain
by muthu kumar on Dec 15, 2012 01:42 AM

Now India need some quality test player. Who can give difficult to opposite team bowlers. And make more runs. As a test captain dravid makes more record. So bring back dravid to indian test squad.

For this situation, dravid like test captain needed for indian team. He is very good test player and perfect test captain. For any situation he can play and give difficult to opposite team bowler. So bring back dravid as captain... and Bring back him to the Indian Test squad...

India is destined for ODI cricket
by Jomesh George on Dec 14, 2012 02:45 PM  | Hide replies

I can't totally agree with some experts opinion about India's poor performance in test cricket.Actually it is not easy to rule in all formats like WI or AUS has done in past.India and SL are destined for ODI format while WI r superior in T20,England and Pak r better in test.SA and AUS may be exceptions becasue of fast bowling and fielding strengths that they are suitable for any format.India made achievements in tests also due to application of ODI style.Remember we chased down 400 in the 4th innings vs ENG,Scored 470 within a day against SL and also successfully chased totals in the 4th innings so many times all are impact of ODI game.

whos talking about ruling test format? Losing 10 out of last 11 tests is no where close to ruling. It is a case of survival as a test team. It is time that we be neutral/unbiased and ask Dhoni to leave with dignity and make way for young blood to take over.

Amarnath
by Stephen Manoj on Dec 14, 2012 01:22 PM  | Hide replies

The former selector wanted to drop Dhoni for Australian tour!!! On what grounds. In 2011 Dhoni has just won the World Cup, the tour of West Indies. In England the team was literally a "A" team - no Sehwag, Laxman, Zaheer, Bhajji... Couple of matches India was left with only 3 bowlers. Dhoni personally made 2 fifties in the 8 innings played. Not surely the best performance.

Then followed the 10 one dayers against England 5 in India and 5 in England. As far as I remember he was the Man of the Series and got out only couple of time with strike rate in excess of 100.

So how come Amarnath decide to drop him at that moment. On what basis.

Today situation is different though.

World cup and matches Dhoni won MoM are One Dayers. Amarnath had no complaints about Dhon's captaincy in One day or T20 but only test matches. When he meant shorter version of the game, it means One days or T20.

pls comment sensibly. 1983 world cup was a real break through - India stopped an all powerful WI team on the rampage. WI made all the teams p*ss in their pants with their fast bowling. Surely you know.

Dont stupidly undermine the 1983 WC because they got thrashed later.

And If you are gonna compare 1983 WC with 2011 think again. 1983 was all hostile - in England against the WI pace battery and no BCCI to help. 2011 in comparison appeared like a cake walk.

Ask Bedi, what he did during his cricketing days. Almost, every series during his time was a failure. Few had, like Gawaskar and Vishwanath to score some runs and got famous. Those days, these people use to go abroad for enjoying and cricket was just a wayward work to earn some money.

Bedi played lots of politics during his days and he was instrumental in influencing south indian and north indian differntiation. Now Bedi comments. Wov, Great!!

Bedi developed 'maturity' syndrome as he picked up age. U are spot in - the sardar was not playing for the team those days and now preaches about value. However, this doesn't mean India team do not have any problems now.

Tendulkar has lost the plot seriously and is unable to come to terms of his age and ability, his foot work has gone from bad to worse.

Reflexes have slowed down, unable to gauge the pace of the ball, the way he is getting bowled repeatedly in this series and recent past, it is time for him to decide and say bye bye to cricket. Be a happy Rajya SAbha member and enjoy life in Delhi.

Smart Dhonneee - Fooling you fans all along
by subramaniam srivatsa on Dec 14, 2012 01:02 PM

Dhonee was very smart. He made loot of money became richest cricketer. Even richer than Sachin. Very Smart man. Dhoni fans - you dont realize how much he had made you scape goats to earn all his fame and money. And all along - compromising on Indian Cricket. Taking it right to the grave. Salute Bedi for this.

For those die hard frustrated Dhoni fans who want to rubbish Bedi, Amarnath - think again. You are pulling Indian Cricket to the Grave in favour of a bad captain. Your quoting of mere numbers will never justify Dhoni. He has destroyed fighting spirit of the team - and that reflects totally in his sad overseas record. Deny that if you can.

Boycott all IPL Matches
by rishi swami on Dec 14, 2012 12:55 PM

I personally think that the Indian Cricket team's main problem in not adjusting to test match mode is IPL. We as a spectator & audience should boycott all IPL matches in stadiums & on TV that should wake up BCCI & the great Indian Cricket Team. These two need to be waken up from their deep slumbering levels so that Team India don't reach the lowest nadir in the team rankings.
