We need team building ability in coach. Coaching is altogether a separate department. The may best be a former player but more importantly who is capable of guiding the boys. Otherwise the fumble is bound to happen particularly when the team had such heavy losses in last one year. The big question is whether Fletcher is capable, more importantly whether he's serious in team building or enjoying his term?
Ashwin have the correct head over his shoulder to lead a Test team like the one India have. The team needs a transition from T20 mind set to a Dravid mindset, not stupidly aggressive. We need someone who believes that the DRAW matches does exists in Test cricket. We need someone who can make the team realize the hopelessness of a situation and get themselves prepare for the immense responsibilities which comes before any of your personal morale boosting attitudes (Like Shewag eg.,) With Dhoni, his method of keeping the team morale is like facing his back on a speeding truck and making himself (read team) believe that it is just a Bad dream. That can work in some format where the overs are very limited that the game will get over before the truck ran past you.

So, lets have reality check with the squad: Mahendra Singh Dhoni [ Images ] (capt), - See above Virender Sehwag - He is THE HERO of Dhoni's Theory. And very complacent. Gautam Gambhir - He will be like "Sachin - the Captain", except for the fact that he is 20% of "Sachin the player" Sachin Tendulkar - "Been there, Worst in that", Virat Kohli - One from the Dhoni Club - Cheteshwar Pujara - Good Test captain material but lacks the application that Ashwin have in tough situation. Ravindra Jadeja - To be seen but a very hopeful aspect

R Ashwin - The Cuptaan!!! Not just that he scored in the 3rd match, but the way he try to delay the situation and also not trying to risk his wicket tells all. It was worth noticing the way he tried to convince Ojha and command the procedure. Knowing that Ojha is a compititor and is also trying to prove himself for a place. It was not a "Srinath - Kumble" partnership where both are secured in the team and "The Team" priority comes in even before we have the slightest doubt. But "ashwin-ojha" case was different. Ojha will never like the idea to take a run in the last ball to give Ashwin the strike, meaning the TEAM have less faith in Ojha's batting ability. Also, Ojha and Ashwin both knows the hopelessness of the situation and Ojha could easily take his chances and impress the selectors. Well, I wonder what went into their discussion but it looked as if Ashwin have the natural leadership quality and convincing power. Piyush Chawla - We have seen enough of Piyush and he is just a temporary in the team. Can you ever think of Agarkar as Captain. He is like that.

Ishant Sharma - No brainer. The long locks sucked the last protein in his brain. I guess, we need atleast some to function the brain.(??!!) Ajinkya Rahane - Let him concentrate in his batting skills. A good 3 down material. Ashok Dinda - I do not beleive in fast bowlers. Its like imagining Sohaib Akhtar to be the Captain. Why not, btw!? M Vijay - Again a good very good player, Test match material and a dependable Opener. Parvinder Awana - Who is this guy? Refer "ashok dinda".
It's unfair to expect our players to do such a hard work. They are used to bat only only 20 overs in a T20 match, how can these poor guys bat for 100 plus overs in a single inning.

Mohinder was sacked when he questioned Dhoni's captaincy. Chikka did the blunder of not allowing the discussion of Dhoni's captaincy. Take Saurav's record he built the team from sctratch thats fighting. Moreover the replacements to VVS,Dravid should have been planned and adopted. India needs a good bowling side. across the border Pak produces finest fast bowlers. why not India? the reply would be we cant produce fast bowlers by the top personalities. the BCCI should be run by former players, may be assisted by good administrators. administrators are always politicians and there would not be any progress in the team's performace.
I think for the Indian team to be successful in Test Cricket the players should play more Test Cricket and Players should be forced to play Domestic Cricket like Ranji Trophy. In recent years BCCI is only busy making money with more of 20-20 IPL and Champions Leage and test cricket is given last preference.

SANDEEP PATIL was famous in his PLAYING days as PLAYBOY do u remember DEBSHREE ROY and the movies
Where is my friend Sunil Vaidya who writes epics on Dhoni when winning over West Indies & New Zealand? Will he again come up with a story saying "Dhoni haters will be happy seeing India lose blah blah"?? He had written that "Dhoni is king" after winning over New Zealand...... Now, Dhoni seems to be "The Emperor with the new Clothes".....

i have NEVER given ''ALL'' credit to msd and i will NOT give ''ALL" blame to msd...
i cannot do anything if you have selective memory about my posts and remember only the posts which are convenient to you...if you remember only those posts where i have given credit to and praised msd and conveniently dont remember where i have given credit to and praised other indian players there is nothing that i can do...if you remember only those posts where i defended msd and chose conviently the posts where i have defended other players there is nothing i can do...

if you guys remember only those instances where dhoni ''blames'' other players and dont remember those instances where dhoni has ''blamed himself'' and said ''i made mistake, i failed i am to be blamed'' there is nothing i can do...you claim dhoni only claims credit for win and never claims credit for loss but i challenge you to tell me when dhoni said that it is because of him that india wins while you have long term memory loss about the time when dhoni said that he has a good team hence the good results...
i have never claimed dhoni is the greatest batsman, or great batsman and he is greater batsman than dravid and laxman in tests.......have i ever claimed such a thing? it is you people who seem to expect performance from him as if he s dravid or laxman... have i ever said he is india's best T20 player? Yes i have said that i dont rate sachin the greatest (or even great) batsman. From that some of you have ''logically deduced'' that according to me dhoni is the greatest (or great) batsman...there is nothing that i can do about such ''logic'' and such ''logical people'' ...
I have always admitted that dhoni is like any other human being and has and will continue commit mistakes...it is impossible to live and yet never make any mistake...you speak as if other captains or batsmen or fielders keepers have never or will never commit mistakes...

you forget conveniently that he tries to give his best and he shoulders the most workload and burden among all indian (and perhaps among all cricket players) he is the one who plays and captains india in all formats and naturally there will be ups and downs in his performances and form...i even am not not against the idea of dropping him as captain from some formats...but that is not because he is not good but because it is very necessary to lighten the workload he has...it is simply unfair to ask him to do all the things he is doing and still expect him to succeed consistently ...like ganguly has said if he is going to play and captain in all formats it is not possible that he will be able to maintain consistency in all departments, as a captain batsman and wicket keeper...there will come a time when even he will find it very heavy burden to do that...he is also human after all...like ganguly has said this superhuman responsibility that is placed on him will sooner or later lead to we losing him as a player...not only that we will lose him as a captain also...it is simply incorrect to place such a intimidating workload on him...that is why it is better that he should give the miss to captaining in some formats....i even would welcome the idea that dhoni rests himself from some series or some games from time to time...in fact i had even expressed this idea in some of my posts ...and i am very sure that very few (if at all) will remember that i said this about dhoni...

i even would welcome the idea that dhoni rests himself from some series (or some games) from time to time...like he did against SL...after winning the cb series in australia as a captain he had the daring/guts to ask bccu that he be rested from the next test series against SL in SL because of mental fatigue and physical fatigue due to constant cricket...
ncidentally we lost that test series against SL in SL with ganguly as a captain and though we had sehwag, gambhir, sachin, dravid, laxman and ganguly as out batting lineup in the test team...and dhoni was not there either as a captain or as a player...we lost the test series 1-2 because of murali and mendis magic...after that not many had much expectation from the odis series against sl in sl which followed...but dhoni came back rejuvenated and lead india to victory in the odi series with very good performances with th ebat even though we were without sachin, sehwag etc...i do wish dhoni would show such guts again....but yes dhoni too seems to have got stuck/sucked in the rut...
Yes i agree that he is stubborn at times...but many times this stubbornness has paid big dividends...at other times there will be some losses also...

my friend, jiju, maybe i write epics about dhoni when our team wins against 7th 8 th ranked sides like nz and wi in their own country under his captaincy...but you should at least appreciate that we won against them in tests and odis...
do i also remember sa losing against wi in wi? do i also remember aus losing the odis series against wi in wi? surely these losses against wi in wi by such ''strong'' and ''no. 1'' sides are more shameful than our wins there?

Jiju, dont be so critical of Sunil Vaidya. What will the poor guy do if he has not received payment from BCCI? For people like you, it maybe entertainment. But for him, it is a living.
