Team India- What a show !!!!!!!
by sreenbabu rao on Dec 08, 2012 08:06 PM  | Hide replies

All batsmans and players with great reputation on papers but on ground they are doing what they are not supposed to do Its bad to point any single player out when whole team is responsible for this kind of show in test cricket. Selectors who wanted players like Dravid and Laxman to go out should regret now.

Team India needs complete changeover

Players likely to be left out

Gautam Gambhir
Sachin Tendulkar
Virat Kohli
Yuvraj Singh
MS Dhoni
Harbhajan Singh
Zaheer Khan

If the selectors are unable to find the replacement then ban India from playing International Cricket. No need to keep players who are tiger on papers and cat on ground.

Feeling bad to see this condition of the cricket team

Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis will suppoert Tendulkar because they want to keep their jobs secured. So there is no need to pay attention to their comments.

Ricky topping
Tendulkar's last hurrah !!!
by Ricky topping on Dec 08, 2012 07:20 PM  | Hide replies

I wrote about 20 days back in this forum that Ricky Ponting should have retired in glory after the Indian series when he scored 544 odd runs. He did make his retirement announcement two days later before the final test against SA.

In the same vein I say now that Tendulkar should have retired a year ago; he hasn't done it; it's time that he makes the announcement before the final test against England - which shall be his last whether he scores a century in that test or not.

My reason is the same as advanced for Ponting:
1. Ponting slid from a good average of about 54 plus after the end of India series in Australia and when he retired it stood at 51.85. Anything below 50 is not good for any great cricketer and had he played a few more matches that would have been real.
Tendulkar is also sliding in average and should be careful not to make it weak.

2. Dressing room atmosphere can be anything but healthy if you have one ageing stalwart of a preceding great team still remains - which was the case with Ponting (with Hayden, Gilly, Warne, Langer, McGrath, Lee,Gillespie, Martin, Symonds, Bevan,Lehman all retired) howsoever great a player has been and whatever be the cordiality shown by the remaining players. This will impact the morale and confidence of the team for sure, though nobody will admit openly. This is what may be happening now, or will happen if Tendulkar continues.

3. Don't fall into the trap laid by Wasim & Waqar for the Indian Team.

I dont agree...Tendulkar still has the passion, talent and fitness in him. As long it lasts he shud play and he will knw that.

We are not speaking about talent or passion or fitness. It is purely based on performance. I dont call for his retirement because Ponting or somebody retired.
If your batting avg drops from 55 to 25.3 (based on last 8 tests held in 2012), it does not make sense to call this a good performance. I dont expect a century of him, I expect him to make atleast 40 runs per innings (average over 3-4 tests). Is it a big ask? If so, I have no comments.

ask sachin to be the captain for the next one year.
by jeevan on Dec 08, 2012 07:09 PM  | Hide replies

atleast he can contribute from that angle. dhoni then wont be an automatic first choice as wicket keeper batsman. another option is to ask viru to captain and hope he gets little settled as a player with that.

Well, in spite of being a Sachin fan, I would say that he is a terrible captain.

what about next sachin: VIRAT
by Tanuj agrawal on Dec 08, 2012 07:08 PM  | Hide replies

every body is so bothered about sachin's retirement, what happened to man in form virat ,man with golden touch dhoni ,and blaster viru ,whoz first innings is enough to make him part of team for next year ,sachin should be treated as source of inspiration for whole dressing room ,guys should take lessons and motivations for him ,sachin cant be made in one day ,it takes life of practice and commitment for the game .

For taking the lessons & motivations, he is welcome to the team dressing room...But hw a cheap excuse it is that sachin should be ratained in team for only inspiration...then we can retain Kapil Dev also in the team...
