A SPIN LEGEND IN THE MAKING ?
by damodaran mohan on Aug 27, 2012 04:37 PM

After the low of the Aus tour it is good to see R Ashwin make a come back with a bang . For once he got excellent support from the field with some breathtaking catches. It remains to be seen how he takes off from here to become a permanent spin fixture in the TEST side and in the next decade or so to be counted amongst the Indian greats, the illustrious predecssars. His first TEST of course will be the AUS and ENG home series Tests and then the overseas tours.Although P Ojha is giving him excellent support but he could do better with sharper pace attack getting some early breakthrough , a support he is devoid of now.Now he is required to do both the jobs and so the initial approach could be bit more difficult and struggle to get those 'first' wickets. His bowling 'line' looks ok now but he seems to be 'over-pitching' too often for the batsman to get to the 'pitch' of the ball easily.May be his ability to bowl in the 'right areas' and take wickets will be better Tested playing tougher sides. Our best wishes.

ban this game...
by Mahendra on Aug 27, 2012 10:17 AM  | Hide replies

this lazy colonial game of cricket played among 9 nations out of which nearly half of them r showing a perceptible decline, in their youth willing to take up this useless game needs to banned in India once and for all.....

ppl spend too much time and money debating endlessly the nitty-gritty of this useless game which does not find any place in the world of sports...

but I guess it will take some time, b4 ppl lose interest as have enough crazy f00ls who will follow this sport and make demi gods out of ordinary men only to realize later that they have been taken for a ride.....

Please let people decide what they want to see.If you have any problem stay away from the game.We in India do not have many choices as far as entertainment at low cost.Only Cricket and Cinema are available at reasonable cost.why you are trying to kill one of them?

Now a days new generation in UK,New Zealand,Australia etc are advised to ignore cricket and take up olympic sports so that their countries can win more olympic medals to make their nations proud.Further, cricket is a totally time wasting game not suitable for modern days.At most,20-20 can be be allowed.Test match for 5 days, one day international match are sheer wastage of valuable man hours for any nation.

Only 4 poverty stricken third world countries like India,Pakistan,Srilanka and Bangladesh are crazy about cricket.Cricket has sucked_the administration, corporate, people, etc of these countries like dreaded_opium and any one who who speaks against this malaise_is abused_by the agents of the scam_and match_fixing mafia.

Therefore, parents should encourage their children to take up olympic sports.Cricket is such a lazy game that if in the night you dance in the club with a girl friend, next day you can go to the field and score a zero and sit in the pavellion. It does not need the hard work of participation in all the time and thats why you can see only in cricket pot_bellied players like David_Boon,Arjuna_Ranatunga,Virendra_Sehwag or Ramesh_Pawar.If you send these players to take part in any olympic sports like basketball, table tennis,or badminton, they will faint after 10 minutes. So,cricket does not make a healthy nation,it makes a lazy nation.

We need to get rid of cricket and bollywood song and dance,to change our nation and emerge as superpower.

In the 5 mins that you people spend in writing some criticising comments abt cricket, a lot can be done. Why cant you do something usefull and get lost from this forum if you are not interested in cricket

Dust Bowl..
by Jaguar on Aug 27, 2012 03:36 AM  | Hide replies

well, India will continue to win test matches at home as long as we continue to prepare turners and dust bowls and offer these mines to the visiting teams. I am not saying that we shouldn't play to our strength but the next pitch should be a sporting one.

Do other countries ever prepare spin-friendly wickets to the advantage of Sub-continent/ Any country would/should prepare the pitches which assist their bowlers. Indian pacers , with their physical fitness are not as their counterparts elsewhere. So what is wrong SO WHAT IS WRONG? EVERY COUNTRY IS LIKE THIS. do not degrade India and indians for their performance. Rather it has become a fashion to do so, I think

Well said brother. Host advantage is always right. If other countries do not play spin well that is not our problem. Do they care about our inability to play fast bowlers?

Then all falst bowlers taking wickets in England and Australia is no big deal either - Umesh must be useless since he did not take wickets in spin conditions if Ashwin is useless in Aus conditions
