The match is won
by Gurjot Singh on Aug 23, 2012 10:30 PM

NZ will fold given they have to bat in second innings on a 5th day's wicket.
India will score 450 . NZ may follow on.

retired at the right time in the interests of Indian cricket. Some other fellow continues with selfish personal interest knowing very well his reflects have slowed down.

"retired at the right time"....
what a joke?????

retiring when one is close to 40 is not the right time.
instead the wall was cracking, and the writing was on the wall for everyone to see......

anyways he managed to create a unique record b4 retiring. the max number of clean bowled dismissals which I doubt will ever be surpassed...

absolutely and in fact Dravid made 3 100 scores in ENG , Player of series there another 100 in 2011 and highest run getter for 2011.After Australia he felt it is right time.
Sachin has not made a 100 for nearly 2 yrs

Good for Pujara and other youngsters that Rahul and VVS retired before the home series against a weak line up. their real test will not be now, it will be when they will play in ENG, SA, NZ and AUS

Pujara's knock
by Bowrie RK on Aug 23, 2012 08:53 PM  | Hide replies

Pujara proved that he has an ideal Test class temperament with an unfinished innings almost unblemished and some really pleasing strokeplay. Even Kohli too displayed his strokes to perfection. Both need to be preserved. One only hopes Grand old man of the team at now realises that like VVS Laxman, he too, leave the scene for the newcomers. But will he! A million dollar question.

You are right. SRT has scored maximum runs from team India in last 3 tough oversees tours of SA,Aus n Eng.
Top scorer must definitely retire and armchair critics like you should take his place. Best of luck for your future cricket series :)

the selfish guy is the one who bats at no.4 and never moves from that no.
Dravid and Laxman moved from their positions esp. in england last yr

New Era!
by trivandrum padmanabhan on Aug 23, 2012 07:17 PM

So a new era of Indian cricket has begun! Let BCCI nurture them!In pace we have Ishant, Yadav, Aaron & Dinda. In batting Kohli & Pujara. Rahney to be tested, Raina has limitations,Rohit has temperament & discipline problem. So needs couple of more Virat & Pujara types to strengthen our batting department.

Time to give chance to youngsters
by Sathya on Aug 23, 2012 07:17 PM  | Hide replies

Time has come for Sachin to retire from International Cricket. Let him give his place to young cricketers, this would ensure these cricketers get required exposure at the highest level. Also it would help the BCCI to build a bench strength. Today's match is an eye opener for the selectors, as young cricketers have shown they are capable of filling the gaps created by the likes of sourav, dravid, laxman. Provided they get ample opportunity and exposure at the highest level.

Time has come?? dude time has long passed for him to retire. I see from time to time some people supporting him for his records and scores he made but, selections for matches need to be alone on present form and performance and we all saw his form in england and australia. Though it is collective effort to succeed but indian cricket need to make some straight decesions and srikanth is no way going to make one...and bcci is nowhere close to do the right thing..

Pujara would not have even played if Laxman not quit.
Reason:
Dhoni would have played his pet Raina over Pujara
