India is 5th in Test cricket, there is no bowler in 1st 10
by Ram Sharma on Aug 22, 2012 09:58 AM  | Hide replies

India is 5th in Test cricket, there is no bowler in 1st 10. Sachin also has only now become 10th in batsmen's list. But still we'r crazy abt cricketers. It is shameful that though cricket is played only in a few countries, Indian cricketers earn in hundreds of crores, whereas players from other internationally popular sports don't sometimes get even basic requirements.

you saw your players from other internationally popular sports perform at the Olympics recently.. Any other country and our athletes would not even have sent to London. Such mediocre performance. If you ask me, every kid who holds a hockey stick should be given a cricket bat.And mindyou, this time all our olympians were training using the best facilities and were based in wuropean countries for the last 2 years. Just that they were not good.

dear eastindian. u r right that our performance at Olypmic has been so poor, despite a record from our standard - we won 6 medals for the first time. That is what I'm also emphasizing. Unless we stop patronizing cricket, this dismal show is not going to improve much. Children r made to play cricket, bcz parents know that if they succeed slightly they will earn in crores. Getting even a broze medal in highly competitive Olympic is far better than winning a world cup in cricket.

It is absurd to think that by dumping cricket we can excel in other sports.

We have Prakash Padukone, Pulela Gopichand, Viswanathan Ananad and I am forgetting the name of billiard player who ruled the world in their respective sports events.

But what is needed is to behave like Gopichand who is transferring his skills into young players and has given us Sania Nehwal.

It is unfortunate that while most of the fellows got land in the name of starting academy they did nothing to transfer their skill.

dear aftab. I'm not saying to dump cricket, as was done in USA long ago - they had banned test cricket. I'm not suggesting banning it. What I'm saying is that let us stop patronizing cricket, i.e. we shd stop going to see all cricket matches, or to see all cricket matches on TV.

it shows your jealousy that cricketers are earning so much. Next we win series in India you will say we are flat wicket bully. I never understood how other countries are not able to beat in India. Why Indian should play to opponent strength. Atleast we are in first tier in cricket not like hockey or football. FYI there are manty team who compete to get entry into worldcup. when things are there you take it for granted. With hockey things were taken for granted but now since we are overtaken by even countries like south korea, malaysia to some level and china too i can see moving to better ranking than us in few year you complain. get life man

Jealousy for cricket.. this shows that you need to get lif man... Cricketers are paid 100 times more than other Indians spoortsman.. And the returns.. Match Fixing.. Spot Fixing.. If lost.. then so many excuses...
When national awards are given.. cricketers do not turn up.. Only running after money.. We need India to be said that we are more than just cricket.. Even when it is said that we are just cricket.. we have not even won test series in Australia and South Africa till date.. Both these countries have won in India..

Shoulder responsibility
by Sowri Rajan on Aug 22, 2012 09:51 AM  | Hide replies

Dear Sachin,
You have been shouldering responsibility for quite some time now. It is time to give up the shoulder and pass it on to a young player. He may not produce immediate results, but a platform will be laid for someone else to take the guard and shine. It is not fair on your part to holding one down position in Indian test cricket. Indeed you have created enough records and I do not see anyone breaking them in the near future. It is in the interest of Indian cricket that you retire from all forms of cricket thus give a chance to a deserving youngster. I am sure you will agree with my contention. Please revert. Thank you, Kind regards, T.A.S. Rajan

Sachin is one player who evoks both extreme admiration and jealousy from his followers. Those with clean minds end up being admirers and those who can not stomach other peoples' success end up bashing him !! Interesting !!

Dravid does not want anyone else to shoulder the responsibilty. Now you can understand why India wants Nehru-Gandhi to shoulder responsibilty for eternity.
