Dhoni again
by mohan on Aug 23, 2012 04:38 AM

MSD has become oversmart.
Anyone who is praised by him needs to watch out - he could be the next one to go.
Seniors and Rohit are an example.

Sehwag needs to watch out and regain his form,
or he could well be the next guy to march out.

Strangely all the folks that are being forced out are FAR SUPERIOR batsmen/players.

Dhoni, slow down.

MSD must have been instrumental in scapegoating VVSL or atleast not gracefully phasing his career out. VVSL scored 8800 runs in dire situations for India.. it is not just 8-10 situations. Check it out. Barring last two test series, he is the go-to man, crisis player.

MSD used this skill to his advantage. At the first instance when India lost 8 tests, VVSL was finger-pointed. The poor guy had scored a match-winning century in the test prior to 8 tests where no one else could play well. Sadly that innings happened to be his last good innings.

Media started baying for seniors' blood - Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman and the pressure built on them to go.

VVSL may have felt that he did not receive support from his skipper at the most vulnerable moment in his career. He has moved on. MSD needs to move on. He needs to also learn from Clarke and Smith on how to handle seniors.

Dhoni Should be DROPPED from the TEST team
by shali vahana on Aug 23, 2012 04:24 AM  | Hide replies

Look at Dhoni's batting average in the last 2 years, other than a century against hapless Windies his performance with the bat is pathetic. His captaincy is average. HE will do good if the bastmen or bowlers do well or there is very little contribution from him. He is not good technically, only fit for 1-day or 20-20 cricket, but must be dropped from test cricket. Gambhir can be made the captain. Sehwag can drop to middle order. Rahane should open, other middle order can be - Pujara, Raina, Yuvraj, Badri, and a good batsman WK.

Dhoni should focus on 1-day and 20-20 cricket.
Otherwise, he will again score some 100s on placid Indian pitches and prolong his test career to the detriment of the team.

Both Azhar and Ganguly have hit out strongly against MSD's test cricket captaincy and skills.

I agree for this. He is not fit/suite for tests. Team India test ranking improved from 8 to 2 in Ganguly's Captaincy.
Dhoni just take that performing team and got test ranking 1.

If Team wins, its Dhoni's effort...if team looses, then blame seniors using media help..Its nonsense from Dhoni and BCCI..why team today reached its high (just few time back)..is from efforts of Sachin,Rahul,Kumble,Laxman and Saurav...Dhoni just enjoyed the grown tree now, He was simple guy with grt power..but fame and ads and money made him politician...now batting aggression lost but politics increased..Dhoni, one day u too will recieve same treatment like Laxmn...How can a person behave with Laxman...? ..List is too long now..Sehwag,Gambhir,Saurav,LKaxman and so on.....:(

what a view...!!! except sachin... can you name any of the seniors who were there in the worldcup team when we won? So when we were whitewashed 8-0 by aussies and england, most of them were there. So it is right that that when team fails, it is seniors dhoni are responsible...

Laxman was a good cricketer but he retired at the right time
by Sachin Joshi on Aug 23, 2012 12:15 AM  | Hide replies

Young guns need to be given more opportunities before they are 30 years because than their body is just not fit enough to compete with the likes of cricketers from Australia, SA and England. You need to to be young to dive around and run quickly between the wickets. Laxman was poor in both these departments. I agree he saved India on 8-10 occasions for which I really appreciate him. But we should not assume that their is no youngster who can not perform as well as him. If people think like that than even Sachin Tendulkar would not have got the chance to play for India at the age of 15.

Agree but have to mention one point - you mentioned 8-10 times. Which is not true. But let us take that as truth. Now let us look at MoM awards. VVSL compares with legendary Sunil Gavaskar on equal path. VVSL was given 6 MoM awards and 1 player of the series award in tests and 4 MoM awards in ODI. Do you know how many MoM awards Gavaskar got in tests ? A mere 5. Only Kapil Dev, the all-rounder has done better than either of them in this department.

VVSL is not just a 'good cricketer' but 'extremely good cricketer', a class beyond comparison. He's an unsung hero but the last classic batsman and a matchwinner at that.

I can't even laugh at your statements....

"But it is a bitter truth that India is world class in cricket only."

"WORLD CLASS"..........
hmmm....
what do u mean by the term "world class" ??????
a world that comprises of 9 countries out of which 5 are third world countries....

Buddy, thank our stars that most of the european, latin american and african nations, US, Canada, China, Japan, Korea, etc etc do not play this useless, lazy colonial game of cricket.
The day they announce their intentions to play this game ( I hope they never do ), India will be ranked at the bottom of the table in cricket...

Tell me how many countries play squash, ice hockey, hand ball, rugby ? A handful of them. But still they have world cup.
For your information world class does not mean that all countries have to play that game. It means that you are one of the best who plays that game.

Deshbhakt Hindu:
plz do not mix up the names of those gr8 sports with a sport like cricket.

u do not need to wait for 5 days to get a result in rugby, squash, ice hockey and all those beautiful games that u have mentioned.

The reason most of the world choose to ignore this cheap, silly game of cricket is bcoz they know its a lazy man's game that has no international standing whatsover...

G.B. Shaw himself once quoted that this silly game is played by 11 f00ls and watched by 11000 f00ls...

It is not that Indians follow cricket because they have no option. It is just that we are not good in other sports and we are failures in other sports. Nobody wants to follow a sport in which we keep on coming last or we even do not qualify for final rounds.

Earning money is not the barometer for how good you are. If that is the case then David Beckham is grossly overvalued and one of the highest earning sportsman as he has failed miserably for England but done well at club level. Even Messi.
