No. 6
by Murali Krishnan on Aug 23, 2012 10:32 PM

Yuvraj and Raina are wonderful ODI T20 batsmen but proved a lot of times that they are not for Tests. So No 6 still vacant.

THE NO.3 POSITION
by damodaran mohan on Aug 22, 2012 06:20 PM

India just cannot afford the luxury of Pujara not cementing his place in the TEST side.So team management must do everything including giving him maximum chance to play TESTs as many series as possible. Now coming to NO.3 slot of Dravid, I am not sure it will be advisable to put this pressure straight away on Pujara.Given that Virat Kohli is in Top form now it is better to start with Kohli at No.3.Later on we can try Pujara at no.3 if required. To start with the batting order can be: no.3-Kohli,no.4-Sachin,no.5-Pujara,no.6-Badrinath,no7.-Dhoni.In case of 5 bowlers, Badri drops out and later on Pujara or Sachin etc.by turn.

Poor pujara, dhoni will favor his failed pet Raina
by cc man on Aug 22, 2012 08:07 AM  | Hide replies

Pujara, ur day dreaming. First, u need to be in 11 to prove urselvs. And as long as Dhoni is there, he will try to give chances to his pets badrinath and raina even though they have failed greatly in all whatever chances they were given. We all are waiting for dhoni dropping at the earliest

Raina is not a failure. He only has a weakness for the short ball. As Greg said, he can improve.

Yes, I think this was discovered by Aussies. It was the easiest way to get him out. If he would not have fought with Greg, maybe he would have helped him out :)

Media makes a player and not his performances here...
by K Ram on Aug 22, 2012 06:31 AM  | Hide replies

How come selections in the final XI are taken for granted? Barring the 72 he scored at Bangalore, Pujara hasn't done anything noteworthy in the subsequent chances he got. Hence, the Pujaras, Rohits and Rainas needn't be treated like automatic choices to replace the old war horses. Virat Kohli is the only one who has proved consistency and everyone else the vested interests trying to promote lack that and is yet to prove. There's still a race among Yuvi (when he's 100% fit), Pujara, Badri, Rohit (`wonder, if he deserves yet another chance...) and Raina. So, let the selection committee and team management decide who makes it to the final XI and not the media or any vested interests. Let none take things for granted based on one "once in a blue moon" innings....

btw, rohit hadnt done anything still he has been in the team.

however, pujara has been known to play longer innings n has distinction of having scored 3 triple centuries in trot. moreover, he has performed under english conditions which r bowler friendly. even on his debut, he scored those crucial runs while chasing in 4th innings for winning cause.
i agree kohli is the one who has proved his worth, but even he has prospered in odi n his test mettle has to b tested (has shown some hope from his ausi tour)

but yes. rohit is useless n raina is proven to b odi batsman only.

Where are the real good bowlers for India
by lee on Aug 21, 2012 11:44 PM

Its always about batsman in India. Pujara, Rohot, Virat, Gambhir - they all are great batsmen, however they cannot win test matches as to win Test matches you need to have great bowlers and take 20 wickets. No one talks about Aaron, new fast bowlers or spinners. The bowling department is very weak and this will make India suffer in tests against strong teams.
