i think the big conspiracy is hatched by sachin. its prob due to his influence others are being made to retire, so he can play longer as people might think one senior is required in team. and he can prolong his career for his personal and selfish records.
I salute VVS, what a beautiful carrier.u bladdy kris u have spoiled the carriers of Dravid and VVS for that u & dhoni are responsible. u select ur son anirudh. pooda cammanatti.
Leave a part his retirement which has to happen. Surprise is Badrinath incl. He was given enough chances more over he is not an youngster too. What is BCC1 Doing? no clue about these spineless Baabus
throughout career he played mostly with wicketkeeper and bowlers and added valuable runs for the team. If played at top his average would have been above 50.

I agree. He was a great player among the other greats like Sachin & Ganguly who played for the country & not for personal gain. All of them fielded in any position that the team required including close-in dangerous positions and never tried to please those who control cricket. It is a sad day for India that the only real gentleman should be treated like this! But never mind,in our hearts VERY VERY SPECIAL LAKSHMAN will always be very special & we pray for God's blessings on you and your family.

As far as class goes , he is in the same bracket as Lara, Tendulkar, Dravid and Kallis More than all the stats what mattered most to a die-hard cricket fan like me was the grace he brought to the game. How can one ever quantify that ?! How can you teach or coach any youngster 'aesthetics' and 'grace'?! One can understand why the IPL-watching public does not need him ! Sehwag calls him the 'sai baba' of the team. Only a man of such high principles would have refused the low-hanging fruit of a farewell test at home, against a lowly NZ side, with the prospect of crossing 9000 run mark. But is it surprising when the same player turned down the 'icon' status in IPL ?
