When ohter India team members are batting, you as a spectator in the stadium or an audience watching on TV feel you are in the midst of watching a war going on with your men fighting the war.
Enter Laxman;
You feel you have been transported to an Art Gallery for a long trip
only to be brought down to watching the battle again
after he gets out it is like coming back to the battle field

Well Said Dear ! A word for all those readers who seem to be very happy on his retirement- batting at number 5 or 6, he gets much lesser chances to build his innings, but Lakshman has mastered a great art of batting with tail enders, always either fighting to save matches or winning them. Another 2 such greats were Steve Waugh and Clive Lloyd. And wait and watch, how many years it would take for India to fill this void left by him. All these Rainas, Rohit Sharmas, lack the commitment even if they are talented.

SRT is a mad guy..I wish some fast bowler breaks his jaws so this short budda retires and that will be the biggest favour he will do to Indian Cricket...

very well said, SRT should now focus on his new role and try to excel in that field from now onwards. We respect for whatever he did for indian cricket, but time has come for him also now...
"I think this is the right time to give the youngsters a chance in home conditions ahead of international assignments...." What a vision! What a thought!! If only other senior(s) in the team think(s) like VVS..... Khudos to VVS for timing his retirement to perfection! No doubt! he sure, would have performed better and added one or two centuries or half centuries to his credit. But the man he is, he placed team's interests ahead of his own as always... That's our Very very Special Lakshman! May he guide Hyderabad Ranji team for a season or two and contribute his might to HCA and Indian Cricket in the years to come. We love and admire you VVS! None can ever forget your "NEVER SAY DIE" attitude ever!

Though he was not selfish like the one who should not be named, it is exaggeration by saying he retired just to give an opportunity to youngsters. If that was the case, he would not have waited so long (almost 6~7 months since Aus series finished)..... Everybody who retires says the same thing :) Something has gone wrong indoors, but it is an iron curtain.

Now it is the time for Hyderabadi Cricket Fans and the Indian Cricket fans to show their dissent by not turning up to watch the Indians play the Kiwis at the Rajiv Gandhi Cricket Stadium. A message will go to the powers that be, that a true gentleman was treated shabbily and this is not acceptable. It is a shame that such a graceful and great player like Laxman was not handled with grace or courtesy!

Dear, that is the problem with us Indians, we fail to live in today's moments but still crib about something. Same thing happened during Dravid's retirement. Atleast 60~70% comments were about Laxman & Sachin instead of commenting on Dravid (good or bad, that is secondary). Same is happening here. Learn to acknowledge Laxman's contribution to the team rather than crying about the presence of somebody else in the team......
