If sending derogatory messages to members of the opposing team warrants non selection, why was it not done to Mr. Swann, who publicly disparaged two of his team mates through his book? Double standards by the English board. Mr Pietersen is not without blame but the English board is also at fault. I guess this is what happens when a foreign player is selected to play in national teams...
Nobody is indispensable. KP learnt it the wrong way. Hope BCCI learns to behave the same way. It should have given chance to young players instead of veterans.
We come across such people at work also. I have seen people who got terminated for not being team players although they are the brightest lot and are necessary for the team. Poor people fail to understand the show will go on whether or not they will be part of the teams.
This is exactly what happened with Petersen; he thinks he is bigger than the game. I honestly don't think England needs Petersen. There's a plenty of talented cricketers availble in England.

Windies missed Gayle; however, England will not miss Petersen. In a team sport, it's better to discard a player if he does not function well in a team. Otherwise, the performance of the whole team suffers.
Petersen should take up an individual sport. Baseball? No, it's a team sport too, that's the closest thing to cricket :). Or just play in T-20 leagues in India, Australia, South Africa and England.
Never in the world, I have expected that a player can send such things to an opposition team. A traitor act by KP. Great decision by ECB. A player should not be above rules,regulations,governance,ethics etc. Not sure when will our BCCI will make such decisions on Laxman,Dhoni etc
KP dropping is right, his ego is too much for playing in a team. England might lose without him but you cannot entertain all his whims and and fancies. Even if he apologised for saying what he said in the press conference after last test, his sending of derogatory remarks about his team mates to opposition camp which he still has not denied, is very very poor from a player. It is a team sport after all
