A user named Sameer Bhagwat is impersonating users and posting abusivecomments on others. He posted communalmessages in my name yesterday and was caught when he forgot to change ids while replying. Moderators are only bothered about comments but not such brats, thats why quality of rediff has come down :(

Fielding

it is said "a run saved is a run made"Historically except for a couple of periods India's fielding was generally substandard. In Pataudi's era there were some outstanding fielders like Pataudi ,Surti,Solkar,Wadekar,Venkat, Abid Ali,Hanumant Singh etc who supported the great spin quartet excellently and restricted opposition scores. Again during Kapil Dev's time, apart from Kapil, there were fielders like Azharrudin,Binny, Madan Lal,Yashpal Sharma,Mohinder Amarnath,Srikkanth etc who were splendid.Outstanding fielding can make even a mediocre bowling attack look potent. The bowlers are encouraged to bowl at their best because they know that even half chances would be snared.South Africa in the Sixties had a reasonable attack but an outstanding fielding team led by Colin Bland who is considered by many as the greatest outfielder of all times..Jonty Rhodes has been inspired by such great fielders and knows what he is talking about.Indian cricket fields were not ideal for diving and there was reluctance among many players to slide or dive to save runs.Nowadays the grounds are lush and the new breed of players like Kohli,Jadeja,Raina,Sharma etc have no hesitation flinging themselves on the ground to take catches or stop runs.Given India's weak bowling attack,it's fielding needs to be top class.

Fielding save 50 runs for single match and 50 runs is equal to one half century by a batter. That means that if a team winning match by more than 50 runs fielding dont matter. But if match win by less than 50 runs that means fielding matters. In the past Kumble,Srinath,0.5 of Dravid(Dravid half marathi and I am honest so I claiming 50% of Dravid)Prasanna,Ganesh,Sujith Somasundar all best fieldsers in the history of cricket. That means every record make by these about batters must including 50runs for single match. That way 25 run for single mathc for Dravid which easily beating tendulkar average
