you just can't beat the great fevicol Tendulkar. If you try to you will also become like him - Fevicol 2. Just retire with grace. Tendulkar will play on for his 200 hundred....

I don't think he will play beyond his next birthday. But like everyone else, he too would like to be well timed surprise. It maybe a very small thing in our lives. its a big thing for him. 24 yrs of playing..He has already indicated that he is on his way out. And if I am not mistaken, his biggest surprise will be that like Gavaskar, he too will retire in one go from all forms of the game. Including IPL. he will not stick around like Dravid and Ganguly are doing after their forced retirement.

Sachin is the best!
by rahul banga on Apr 25, 2012 09:00 AM  | Hide replies

Well..why do we compare Sachin with everybody and try to pull him down. Shame on us Indians. it is this attitude that makes us such losers. Here is one man in only one sport in the world where an Indian is No.1. No foreigners also cross this except some Aussies. They are trying to lobbby for their oldie Don Bradman who i personally have not seen play. He played almost 50 years back! Now we have some morons on every forum saying Ponting is better, Lara is the best, Inzamam is the best! the fact is, both Lara and Pointing towards the end of their careers played in IPL/ICL and flopped miserably. Pointng does not even have a buyer! Sachin on the other hand has top scored in last IPL at a good Strike rate. We should search for statistics which will push him even higher and not loserly arguments that pull him down. Shame on you guys..jerks like 'badr Ned'!

Indian batsman had to play against Indian bowling attack than Tendulkar had 150 tons, Dravid had 100 tons and Sehvag, Laxman, Ganguly, Gavaskar had 75 tons each. Ponting comes nowhere close to Tendulkar, Gavaskar and Dravid. 4 years back he had 35 and Tendulkar had 39 tons and see now where Ponting is, struggling for his place after a consistent poor show in last 2 years. Thanks to great Indian bowling which allowed him to score runs recently else he would have been kicked like in test too. Most arrogant palyer in the game of cricket who insulted game spirit on a no. of occasions.

Not only OZ have good bowling attack but also good fielding unit which is also should have been factored in analysis, but on the other hand Indian batsman have advantage of playing more matches on slow dead pitches of Indian sub contient, so it even out the difference.

while dropping Sachin's runs against Zim, ken and bang you must also drop runs scored by Ponting against the same opponents. I am sure even then Tendulkar will be ahead of Ponting. Nobody in international cricket has played enough games as Sachin and we are still counting runs scored by him. Ponting came after Sachin and went before him (ODI's), that itself speaks tons about the great man. Ponting is a good batsman but unfortunately not good enough....

Comparisons
by Saba Pathy on Apr 24, 2012 02:27 PM

Camprisons are pretty difficult one to make

For instance

Umpires went more wrong against Dravid compared to Ponting

Ponting on other hand is a better fiedlder and better captain too

Dravid - was better one down batsmen; Ponting shifted to 2 down sometime

Oz players had other adv; like better team and thus reducing the pressure

If Dravid played for Oz kind of team, he could have scored more due to lesser pressure

Ponting at the Wall!
by ashutosh pathak on Apr 24, 2012 11:28 AM  | Hide replies

Congrats Ponting for finally eclipsing Dravid's record, it's no mean feat and considering that the OZ cric board drops players at the first possible failure, you have turely shown persistance & class in sustaining your presence in the national side for so long.
Your technique is definitely one of the most effective but definitely not the best amoung all the Ozzy players and Dravid on the other hand was copy book cricket (akin to Mark Waugh), he was all class, a visual delight and he played prehaps the most handsome strokes ever played by any player in international cricket and most importantly Dravid has been an inspiration for generations of players including you.
There's a whole lotta cricket still left in you and it would be fun to see you play in the next edition of IPL (provided you make yourself available for selection)..

hey you pointing is much better batsman than sachin and that self pgoroclaimed ktaka wall. the wall was the most boring basman ever seen
dravid was neither a good player of spin or fast balling. in fact he was scared of facing bret lee and shoib akthar. s ramesh was better batsman than dravid

i think you dont about the cricket, if you dont know anything, dont talk any nonsense. he is better batsman, captian, Pointing and Rahul are the match winner players they play for the country and for self record, like tendulkar who took one year to make one century.

I JUST CANT stand the selfish player sachin tendulkar. he is not even fit to carry rahul dravids shoes on his head. everyone played for the country except saching and gavaskar and ravi shastri. 3 shameless cricketers. the gems of india are kapil dev and rahul dravid.

The two
by Story editor on Apr 24, 2012 11:07 AM  | Hide replies

Let us leave Sachin aside and compare on Ponting and Dravid. I think while Ponting was always more aggressive and prolific, Dravid has played better if we consider all conditions and all kinds of bowling.

Ponting for example was never at ease against quality spin bowling, he hit his way out a few times but lacked the technique of playing real quality spin in spinning pitches.

Also Ponting always had a great line up to bat with Dravid had only Sachin and Ganguly for many years before Laxman, Sehwag etc came to picture.

haha most moronic comment on the message board by thos shafiq. dravid has scored his hundreds on fastest pitches in most bowler friendly conditions when players like sachin were failing left right and centre. have u even watched any cricket in 90's and early 2000's? moron.

Pathetic conclusion Sir. Dravid was always more comfortable against pace, rather than spin.
