Rain surely played spoilsport consdering the aggressive intent from both teams. It was heartening to see both trying hard to achieve a decisive result . f.ex. immediately after lunch , the first ball hussey faced he smote deonarine for a six , and followed it with a four later in the same over. The intent was clear-- to put as many on the board as possible and grab 10 windies wkts for the remaining of 2nd session and full 3rd (when they put windies to bat, they had 59 full overs to grab those wkts)
however, turns out it was not just aust. who wanted to win, but Windies also wanted to win, amazingly they were going for the target (215) runs , with sammy hitting 5 boundaries (4 fours and 1 six) in his innings of 30, with bravo supporting him well. they were 53/2 after 11 overs.
Now contrast this with india vs windies final test at dominica how india went for a tame draw..content with winning series 1-0 , that ind didn't even bat..just called it quits...

I would like our cricketers to adopt the same attitude while playing test cricket. We would appreciate them if they try for a win even risking a loss rather than playing dull draws one after the other. It is right that we are being whitewashed these days in test cricket. But when we get an upper hand in a series say for eg: 3 or 4 match series, we are quite satisfied in winning that series 1-0 rather than going fora 3-0 or 4-0 win. If we take the head to head statistics, almost all test playing nations have a better record against us not only in test cricket but even in odi's, except for say a bangladesh or to an extent srilanka ( Only because we had notched up some easy wins against the lankans when they were minnows in cricket. After that the contest had been fairly equal, may be slightly in favour of us). So we should grab those chances to go for a 3-0 or 4-0 clean sweeps, if we are playing good cricket and are having an upper hand over the opposition in that series. At least for the sake of bettering these humiliating head to head records!!!

Yes. WI wouldn't have lost the first test if Chanderpaul hadn't scored the "selfish" century... :) It certainly mattered a lot for Australians... :) Else it would have been a WI win if Chanderpaul had scored a selfless 10 or 20.. :)

Keep agreeing. ;-) Also agree that Sachin has played brilliantly throughout his career despite what YOU and other Sachin haters keep dreaming and cooking up stories on this forum. ;-)
