I don't think Azhar was a bad captain either if not the best. He kept it fairly simple. He expected players to know what their capabilities and strength and gave them a plaform to exhibit those. It would be foolish to advise a bowler what to do, as the bowler know his job well and he set the field what the bowler wanted.
Not to my suprise that people like Kumble, Srinath, Ganguly, Dravid blossomed in his captiancy. Don't forget the bold move to get Tendulkar up the order was his masterstroke. He invested in Laxman which later paid rich divedends.
About match-fixing well may be he might have fixed some odd matched, but would you forget that he has played with broken thumb and other injuries when situation demanded?
Have you fogetten innings of 182 Kolkata, 106 Adelaide, English Summer of 1989-90 which forced John Major to comment in awe, 103 in windy and pacy wellington, one of the best counter attacks in Cape town 96.
He had fastest hundered for a long time, 93 in the painful loss to Aus in 92' world cup. He was the one who set fielding standard for India.
Forget away or home, but how many Indian Captains have inflicted a test series whitewash? He had two to his credit, a hero cup win was almost a world cup win with all top sides.

yes Dhoni is not as intelligent as Azhar.. Azhar made money by fixing matches and became an MP inspite of facing a life ban in cricket. Dhoni has not done anything to be in the Elite panel of Azhar, Kalmadi, D Raja ETC

If ever there is a medal for the dumbest captain in the world it will surely go to Azhar. Who can forgot his decision to bowl first against england after winning the toss, Gooch went on to make 333 and india lost the match and the masterpiece was against SL in 1992 world cup SF when he brought in Kumble to bowl after Srinath got both the openers in the first over ....

dear m. azharuddin.. i agree with you that dhoni have lack of intelligence. dhoni dont have a trick (kala) to give catches in the slip like you had. also he dont know how to fix the matches. my suggestion to you to please keep your mouth shut. because of you all muslims are suffering. shame on you.
