there are enough other players in IPL for youngsters to learn from, if at all...big mouth ponting is not a necessary element
I think Ponting has started advocating the IPL as he has loads of time on hands. How many matches had he played in the IPL's 4 seasons so far? He gave priority to representing the nation - keeping it first before anythign else. Now he wants the boards and the ICC to think about giving IPL a window. Doesn't that show keeping personal interest ahead of the nation?

Two points for people like you. 1) If tendulkar made the same statement as above, you would have said he is still after IPL money 2) I agree with Warne, but ponting did not retire gracefully So, please stop admiring all non-indian players

Look like you missed out on Sachin\'s speach... where is mentioned when one is in good form that\'s the time the team needs him a lot..... TALENT HAS NO AGE.... IF THE YOUNGSTARS ARE TO BE GENERATED THEY WILL BE SACHIN WILL AND CANNOT STOP FROM ONE SHOWING THEIR EXPERTISE...

THEN why india id kicked out in 2 20-20 world cup in initial stage..(even tough Sachin was not there), what t new yongsters done in those 2 WC?
Ponting is now retired from all forms except Test and has lot of time but very very unfortunate that he misses this years IPL because of West Indies Test.
He said his priority is cricket for country etc. but now has realized what his country did...retired him from oneday abruptly and he has time. Wants to make money before retiring...his mate Clarke has rushed to IPL and Ponting is rethinking.
Poor ponting left IPL for national play but what a pity situation he was forced to retire; and now the IPL team went to Michael clarke and not to him who is free now;
