Sad to see SRT getting no respect in his own country
by Shrikar D on Sep 30, 2011 12:06 AM  | Hide replies

It is sad and disheartening to see the amount of scorn, hatred & poison being poured, in this forum, on the greatest sporting hero that contemporary India has ever seen. Only in India! I mean, this was a guy who faced up to life-altering decisions & life-threatening fast bowlers when most of us were still trying to figure out if Clearasil actually worked! The country would be in a far better position in the world than where it finds itself today if each of us could accomplish even a tenth of what he has before his fortieth birthday.

The hypocrisy and holier-than-thou mentality displayed by some here is laughable! These folks should ask themselves a simple question: Would I behave any differently if I had the means and opportunity to acquire the kind of wealth and influence that is at Sachin’s disposal today?

It is pure jealousy at work here! Quite frankly, I am surprised that SRT chose to build that house in Mumbai. I would have settled my family in some place far from India to escape this negativism that seems to haunt him & his loved ones at every turn he makes in his own country!

¤ Tendulkar a Successor to Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam in the Board of CARE Hospitals, and the hospital has been of great help to the needy, especially sportspersons of the state. Tendulkar has been instrumental in the hospital taking care of total expenses for treatment of even state level sportsmen and women.

¤ Tendulkar has also been lending a helping hand to the downtrodden in Tardeo in Mumbai for over 11 years now by providing clothes and other necessities to 250 children besides taking care of their complete education, including books, notebooks, shoes and school uniforms.

¤ Tendulkar has helped over 300 have-nots so far through the Dr. Agarwal Eye Hospital in Chennai since October 2004 to get their cataract and eye grafting operations done. The champion batsman said he was unwilling to talk about this aspect of his as he did not want to seek publicity from these causes.

¤ "Sachin is involved with 'Apnalaya' in Tardeo, Care Hospitals in Hyderabad and Dr. Agarwal Eye Clinic in Chennai, besides the 'Make Wish Foundation', which has been doing a remarkable job for over a decade."

Unarguably Sachin Tendulkar is a "silent crusader" when it comes to charity. We have been following him since 18 years and he gave us all moments of joy and happiness that makes us proud to be born in TENDULKAR ERA.

Sachin dreams of an India which is more than just hope, and to fulfill it he is actively involved in various programs for social upliftme

btw sharath the reason he does not want publicity may be because he knows that this money in reality belongs to the other 10 tough players in the indian side and he just got lucky to get it because the credit of their performaces was donated to him and hence he is donating it and it should really be donated under the name of other 10 players of the country...

cuz at least people like u understand that there r so many people lending helping hands to people in nedd. For u everything looks small, ome one gives 1k or lac or a crore everything will look small. Only you should grow big.
I'm sure you have not even given Rs. 10 to a beggar also. And talk about others not doing anything. U will never realize your mistake.
I have never done anything, I agree, but I don't keep talking things abt what others r not doing.

The champion deserve this as he is most successful cricketer in the world.
The land cost 39 crore 2 yrs back. Now how much his dream home will cost?Whose home is better Sachins or Dhoni is a matter of curiosity.

Ricky, won the world cups not because of his individual performance but because he had great players of gilchrist.mcgrath and warne there. But our champions has won many games for our country by individual performance.

Sachin is among the most earning and wealthy sportsperson in India. Still till so long he was leaving in sports quota flat. Its surprising. I think rich sportsperson should leave such facilities to new comers in order to encourage them. So finally Sachin too did it.

Sachin is a professional and like all professionals has made money off his profession. If we can set aside thoughts of greatness, godliness, selfishness etc aside for a moment then we can all agree (hopefully) that he is a good batsman who has held his position in the team based on his own merit...so why do so many indians get their shorts in a twist over Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar?
