This is the status of living of a cricketeer compared to the best of Hockey players who earlier served our country. Even if we win two world cups in Hockey and other prime tournaments Hockey players could never become rich. Forget about buying plots worth 39 crores, some of them are finding difficult even for a permanent shelter and to make both ends meet. It is high time that we stop patronising only cricket and good Corporates and Government should encourage other sports also by donating funds..

Their playing times were different. At that time, even our cricketers were not earning so much. It is only after the 1983 WC win and entry of Reliance into corporate sponsorship, the earnings went up. I do agree with you that the government and corporates contrbute to the development of other sports in this country. It is a shame that with 120crores of people we are not able to produce an Olympic gold medal winner or achive anything significant in any of the other sports (Leave aside Chess).

His success rate in international cricket is < 10% and that too from the last 22 years...but ur judging him from the match winning performances of other 10 players and stealing the credits of their performances and donating it to sachin.
