Shukla Sir, ok. We now understand that you guys have woken up. Shohaib should apologize, fine. But when will BCCI apologize for ruining our cricket team with cramped schedules?

remember those upper cuts??
by sreejith on Sep 24, 2011 08:53 PM

i find those words from akhthar extremely ironic. coming from someone who rarely remained on field for 5 days in most of the test matches he played for his country. how many test/ODI matches has akhthar won for his side. in most cases he became a serious handicap by being unavailable to bowl in the second innings.
in case his memory fails him, one should remind him of the world cup match (where we chased 273 or so) when he bowled to sachin and sehwag in the beginning amd dravid and yuvraj finished off the game for india.
these days many losers create controversies to sell their otherwise substandard books. thats what i think akhthar wants. pathetic to say the least.
any to be fair, any decent player/captain would have recalled sachin after being runout in the fashion he did in the eden test.

Akhtar is more or less correct.....
by Siachen on Sep 24, 2011 08:49 PM  | Hide replies

Dravid could have won the match, Sachin, during his long career, very very seldom only has had his contribution led to win.

in 2011 world cup victory non of the 2 contributed much since 1983 till 2011 the winning skill like kapil dev is never found in Sachin or Rahul for example Kapil Dev 175 not out innings against zimbabwe is unique example how the real team leader sails the boat from 5-17 to 8-286 and takes man of match crown so akhtar must correct his statement "sachin and rahul lack the killer instict as kapil paji had"

Sarode:

:-). I think you saw Kapil at Trent Bridge and fell asleep to be woken up suddenly in SEP 2011... :-)
BTW Kapil Paji should have learnt the killer instinct from Kapil Paji of Trent Brudge. Then India could have done well against WI at home and could have won against England in 87 world cup too.

Ask Akhtar....
by SURESH BABU on Sep 24, 2011 08:46 PM

Mr. Digvijay got an excellent colleague. Let Congress use Mr. Akhtar to propagate for Congress. He will get a big support from people like Mr. Dig Vijay. Nobody will tolerate abusing our national heroes by our enemies.

Exactly. It is Rajiv Shukla who should apologies for asking Akhter to apologies. He has written his opinion in his book. If you don't like it, don't buy and read it. But then if likes of Rajiv Shukla don't make these stupid comments how do you they will come to rediff.

Akhtar should apologise to Tendulkar and Dravid: Shukla
by kalyan krishnan on Sep 24, 2011 08:29 PM  | Hide replies

These are all opinions and everybody has got a right to express his opinion. For us Dravid and Tendulkar are great players. But if you ask a Pakistani, he would say a Miandad or a Inzamaul-Haq or even a Mohammed Yousuf as great players. There are many who feel that players of the 50s and 60s are greater players because they had very little protective gears and yet they have played scintillating knocks. Who can forget the innings of Kalicharan against Australia in one of the world cup matches, when he hammered the great Dennis Lille or the century by Vivian Richards in the final against England? So there are no specific yardsticks to measure the greatness of a player and it is subjective.

A mortal enemy, drug abuser , a semi banned cricketeer, a cricketeer who isn't even respected in HIS OWN COUNTRY TEAM and by everyone tries to degrade one of out finest players and guess what tards like you do .....

The byproducts of a faulty gene pool and a rotten 3 inch device agree with that so called bowler who has most likely made such statements with sensationalism sentiments.

I'm surprised whenever question arises about Tendulkar's victory contribution only desert storm and few Australia matches figure, i mean after playing about 400 matches that's all we can remember or he has contributed to so many victories we can't remember all of them?

He's probably one among the finest of all players, but still there's something missing w.r.t his victory contributions, but then cricket is a team sport, what are the other 10 bozos doing, so can't single out Tendulkar as such.
