Tributes to Tiger Pataudi
by ziavrap damha on Sep 26, 2011 04:38 PM

Apart from being one of the greatest cricket captains India has produced, he was a great human being. In fact it was during his days with Oxford that my paternal cousin who accompanied Pakistan team during the 1960/62 tour to England reportedly was very close to the late Tiger Pataudi. My cousin used to narrate good incidences experienced during their close aquaintance. Also I being a banker had the privelege of closely knowing his maternal aunt Princess Abida Sultan, she used to narrate lots of stories about Bhopal days the grandeur of those days and her family, she specially used to mention Nawab Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi. Surely India lost one of her most illustrous sons.
May his soul rest in peace.

Just think
by Haramohan Roy on Sep 23, 2011 06:55 PM

Just think that Mansoor Ali Khan played with only one eye. If he had possessed eyesight in both eyes, he might have surpassed even Sachin or Don. ... What a cricketer he was!

Pataudi was a stylist batsman!
by Bibekananda Ray on Sep 23, 2011 06:50 PM

I am not a cricket addict, wasting time on seeing ordinary matches, but when I watched Pataudi play in Test matches, particularly wielding bat, I used to be struck with his elegant style. He was one year younger than me, but his body was infinitely more flexible. When one saw him hitting balls, one could not imagine that he was seeing with one eye. He seduced Sharmila Tagore who avidly watched him play in Eden and walked into his trap. There was some media revulsion over Rabindranath's cousin grand-daughter marrying a Nawab, but their marriage seemed to have been happy.-Bibekananda Ray from Kalyani
