SENIORS LIKE SACHIN.DRAVID,AND LAXMAN CAN PLAY BUT THE DHONI SHOULD BE SACKED AND TERMINATED TO ENTER IN THE INDIAN CRICKET TEAM.SENIORS SHOULD NOT RETIRE THE ONLY DHONI AND RAINA SHOULD RETIRE FROM THE TEAM THE INDIA WINS

Even we didnot get a replacement to Ganguly as on date at No 6
by Birju on Sep 21, 2011 10:20 PM  | Hide replies

After Ganguly retired who is the settled no 6 (VVS got promoted to no 5), Yuvraj was tried but failed, Raina was tried but failed again, even Rohit or Badrinath didnot do anything spectacular (like Ganguly did during the begining of his carrer) to cement a place in the team and can be seen as a longterm prospect. Ganguly is abosolutely right Indian selectors donot have the luxury to drop any senior, since there is no quality talent back up.

You are right.
Our youngsters have been very inconsistent at test level. It will be a gradual process to find new talent, blood them and then cement their place as per their abilities.
It is popular rhetoric to bray for seniors blood. At present they are playing well and no worth replacement in site to replace them.I have doubts if our youngsters are technically and temperamentally oriented for test cricket. The shorter versions make them loose patience. They need to patiently hone their skills other wise they appear as a flash in the pan and then they vanish.

Mr. Birju, fully agree with u, the present day juniors are not atall the worthy replacements of the seniors today, even Virat Kohli is proving to be an useless Test batsman. DADA is right again .... it may take some more time for the so-called experts to understand it as it took them sometime to actually 'understand' Mr. Chappel even then DADA was right.

Dada's thought is subjective. Dada speaks from heart. If you leave it to seniors to take a call, they will never. I also endorse what Kapil Paji says. He speaks a method to replace.

All three seniors should not play together in a test.

Technically correct juniors should be tried and groomed. Not the likes of Raina, Yuvraj and Kohli, who are good fr shorter format. Not test class.

We should keep persist with Rohit, Badri, Mukund, Pujara continuously by resting one of the senior in frequent interval.

Actually we missed to see the Bowling department, which is pathetic.
Its high time we replace all the present lot as none of them are fit to bowl 6 overs in one go. If you keenly observe their stamina, they fall back often during delivery post 4 or 5 overs. their pace drops, their bending ability laxes.
We should bring in new lot of youngsters. Doesnt matter even if we lost couple of test matches. But persist with the new lot.

you allow juniors also to decide when to quit on their own!!!

Missing catches and poor fielding should be held against seniors along with their inconsistent performance. They are just blocking budding talents. If you are side lined in IPL that is a good indication you are not fit for the national side.

:-). Well said. The IPL did marvelously well in England. We must aim for more such whitewashes. After all IPL - as you rightly pointed out - is more important than the national side. :-)

You went out in bad form and taste.................and then your whimpering was loud...........face it skipper.....the limelight and the money is too good to let it go........................so you can preach what you did not do. Unfortunately the seniors in cricket become 'mafia' members with 'you scratch my back and i will scratch your back'............their intent is not to let new talent come and disturb the apple cart.............we are so unhappy that Greg was not allowed to 'clean' up the moss building in Indian Cricket with the shewags, dravids, sachins, and you.........

Ganguly himself could not decide when to retire when his prime time was over. He was literally forced to retire backed by super flop performance in his last many matches.

There was no taker for this old warhorse at IPL auction, still he was trying his best to play IPL via Kochi or Pune.

Its all easy to bark rubbish when you have retired.

What true hero & Indian legend you are talking about? Ganguly was just another ordinary player who didn't have any footwork or technique to play short-pitched bowling. This flat-track bully just became popular by scoring on flat sub-continental pitches. Ganguly was well-exposed in bouncy tracks of South Africa & Australia.

no indin ever ....even sachin, shewag, vvs and dravid can play short pitched and swing as good as their aussie or english counterparts, if they did we would not have consistently lost our overseas tests and series from time immemorial .... what so big deal about ganguly? He is definitely one of the better batsman this country has ever produced, otherwise u cant be in international cricket for over a decade or score over 18000 international runs.

People who have held only their personal bats talk like that.... 18000 runs in international cricket is not a small job...and it not only been scored in subcontinent...He has been a greatest matchwinner after Sachin in ODIs...See his records againts Pakistan,SA nd SL...the teams who made indians look like bunnies like they did in the recently concluding series...No one can replace Sachin Saurav Rahul...Just No one...Niether in Test and nor in ODi... IF wanna talk about 20-20/IPL...Then lets talk abt Galli cricketers...

Numbers dont lie..Both in ODI and Tests, ganguly stats compare to folks like Vengsarkar, Vishwanath and better than many of his former detractors Srikkanth, Shastri and some on this board .Although slow but BCCI considers Ganguly as cricketing legend....This is why recently BCCI appointed Saurav as Chairman of a prestigeous Technical Committee, succeeding the legendary Sunil Gavaskar.

Dear Popatlal I guess u don’t have too much knowledge about Cricket.Go & get some cricket knowledge first & then comment against a gr8 player. Do you know how many test centuries Sourav had made in his test carrier – 16. Out of them -
1. 131 – Lords (1996)
2. 136 – Nottingham (1996)
3. 101* - Hamilton (1999)
4. 128 – Leeds (2002)
5. 144 - Brisbane (2003)
6. 101 – Bulawayo (2005)
I guess this 6 test centuries were not in sub-continent or india’s flat pitches.
So u r totally wrong in pointing against a gr8 player like Sourav.
U said ‘Ganguly was just another Ordinary Player’ - Then how come he till date Fifth Highest Run getter in ODI's after Sachin, Ponting, Jaysuriya, Inzamam. A ordinary player what u said is Fifth highest run getter in ODI’s. Lets see a ordinary player whole carrier records -
In Tests –
113 Played – 7212 Runs scored – 16/100, 35/50, 42.17 Batting Avg & 32 Wickets.
In ODI’s –
311 Played – 11363 Runs scored – 22/100, 72/50, 41.02 Batting Avg & 100 Wickets.
A simple & ordinary player records … hehe Popatlal….

hehe Popatlal a player who did n't have any footwork or technique or to play short pitch bowling already scored more than 11000 runs is ODI's & 7000 runs in Tests. The last information i want to give u that - till date Sourav is the most sucessful Test captain of India. So hence I am requesting you please dont say rubish against a gr8 player who contributed lots for team India. I guess u forget when in the yr 2000 Azhar, Jadeja, Mongia & Prabhakar alleged my match fixing scandal & all of them ban fron international cricket & even after lost the test series against SA Sachin step down from test captaincy..He then made new young team of India ...

Saurav's biggest contribution was to build a cricket team and he asserted himself like a captain. He was a great player.
He nurtured many talents.
He was brave enough to voice his feelings unlike many who could not speak.
Last twilight years every one slows. Even our remaining legends too are slowing yet they are like seasoned wine.
Hard to find their replacement yet.
I respect Saurav for his immense contribution to Indian cricket.

Mr. Popatlal, get your facts right. Sourav Ganguly was doing pretty well when he was asked to quit by Srikanth.

In his last series against Australia, he performed well having scored a century against the Aussies and did play his part in helping India win the series 2-0

Dear Friends I agree with Mr,Sourav in regard to the seniors retirement and let them play till they can perform and I also agree with Mr.KapilDev that while the seniors play in ODI and TESTS then the youngster should also be allowed to perform in the presence of the talented seniors and only then we can rebuid the perfect team in both the version of the game.Thanks.
