He was truly a tiger in the field prowling in cover & extra cover areas. As far his batting was concerned he was a treat to watch. He was the first batsman who mastered of taking ariel routes which was considered blasphemous those days. He was the captain in true sense who instilled belief in India that test matches can be won both India & abroad. In fact he was one of the pioneers to have changed Indian cricket!
If MAK has ARDS, he should be moved to one of the bigger hospitals, which are the only ones capable of dealing with this type of ailment. If he is in mumbai, try Lilavati or hinduja or Breach candy. My mother survived ARDS in Lilavati, but mortality rate is over 70% in ARDS. Good luck and god bless.
He was not one of the best captains we have had; he was positively the best captain we ever had. His winning percentage is not comparable to some of the more successful ones like say Ajit Wadekar, but he marshalled his meager resources with expertise, and did manage to win quite a few Test Matches despite a weak team. Who can forget his last series as captain wherein he drew level with WI after losing first two Tests only to lose the fifth one. He made Indians take fielding seriously, and his record as a batsman looks ordinary, but is nothing short of miracle, when we realise that he made all those runs with just one eye. If you don't believe me, try keeping an eye closed for an hour, and doing your normal work. He was far ahead of his times, at least for India.

He was the first captain to urge his portly gentlemen team mates ,like Vijay Manjrekar, to take fielding a bit little seriously

Sir, those days are over. It is a surprise if a man's wife is by his bed side (general comment, not specific to this case). High profile people (or celebrities as they call themselves) are the last persons to look for sense.
