whole Indian cricket will be slim to none during new president srinivas’s tenure! Thus millions of extra manpower going to get our human resource.

Awaiting an INDIAN CRICKET RIP bash in 3 years down the line!

Cricket Aberration

Manohar has used a curious term "aberration". This is Ok if it was for a short term loss of form in any one dept. How come there was a wholesale and prolonged failure in all 3 depts of batting, bowling and fielding ? Manohar doesn't sound worried at all and that is what is really worrying.

What about fighting spirit? Was that the sole preserve of Rahul Dravid? How did the others let him down so badly ?

If Amit Mishra could stick it out at the Oval test for 86 runs, how did 7 guys get out for just 21 runs? Didn't they care about saving the Indian Team , when they had a decent chance to do so?

Unless we view this as a disaster with long term implications, we won't find correctives to this situation.

death of cricket
by Ajai Jacob on Sep 20, 2011 02:20 PM

Well said Manohar, this is indeed transition time (transition to death)of cricket.Cricket is dying just like it died in West Indies.
Nowadays, people with common sense are turning away from cricket.
Thus India will be saved from this stupid, lazy game played in just 10 countries.

Dont forget that he was the same selector who selected the world cup winning team. Everyone plays a part in victory.

Did you get the same thrill with this World Cup victory as the 1983 one ? , the 2011 victory seemed so fixed / manipulated

83 cup did thrill us more because we never expected to win.Now the team looked strong so not much excitement for your generation. The present generation enjoyed.

I was 10 years old when Indian team won the world cup under kapil dev. Now my son is 10 years old, but he has no thrill in enjoying this win. More so he is playing for a coaching club for the last two years and understands the nuances of the game. The Westindies match - where the match turned upside down. The Australia Match - which had dual surface. The Pakistan match - exactly at Mohali, the finals played by Srilanka without any vigour (Four changes made in the XI). The way ICC chairman kept on saying that we want India to win the World cup.. And many more did not give the punch for the cup.
