MOHINDER , THE GREAT COME BACK MAN, A GREAT CHOICE OF SELECTION C
by subrata banerjee on Sep 19, 2011 02:46 PM

Amarnath family is a famous family where father and two sons represented national team with great flamboyance with bat and ball. Lat Lalaji is still a great outstanding memory in Indian criciet but his second son Mohinder Amarnath created history to be recalled in the national team in every 2/3 years gap. And every time he proved his selection fruitful. He became a COME BACK MAN IN INDIA. There is no other test level player who had been dropped without any valid reason suddenly and recalled after 1/2/3 years to represent national team again and he went on proving his abilitis as an all rounder. At last he got the man of the series Award in ONE DAY WORLD CUP CHAMPI0NSHIP IN THE YEAR 1983 (can one immagine this kind of selection). Yes, thereafafter, another COME BACK MAN APPEARED FROM BENGAL AND EVERY ONE KNOWS WHO IS HE? He also proved his qualities as and when he was recalled and selected. He also helped Indian cricket team with bat and ball, though he was mainly a left hand aggressive batsman who could accilerate huge runs in a very short time. At one point of time Sachin and Sourav opened Indian innings with so fluency that India used to reach 150/200 runs within 20/30 overs in allmost in every match and thus, India coould defeat the opponent with ease.
But this time, the old COME BACK MAN MOHINDER AMARNATHJI MUST BE THE CHAIRMAN OF SELECTION COMMITTEE THOUGH HE NEVER REPRESENTED INDIA AS A CAPTAIN. HOW HE COULD BE THE CAPTAIN? WHERE WAS HIS GOD FATHER IN INDIAN CR

In 2000, the BCCI appointed a three-member disciplinary committee comprising the then president Dr A.C. Muthaih and two vice-presidents, Morarka and K.M Ram Prasad. The committee couldn’t agree and by a 2:1 majority decided to ban Azhar for life.

More than 10 years later, two members of that panel now believe the life ban should be revoked. The third member, Dr Muthiah, said,
Its up to the Board,
There shouldn’t have been a life ban in the first place. I was against the move, Morarka said. The copy of the letter is also with Azhar.
While defending his case, Azhar had Produced the letter in court,I couldn’t attend the meeting on that particular day and requested the meeting be held later. They didn’t agree and gave the verdict. There was no evidence suggesting Azhar’s role in match-fixing, Morarka added.

Ram Prasad, now recovering from an illness, said from bengaluru, Looking at the improved behavior of the former captain, I believe the life ban should be removed. The Board can certainly do it.

“ If Ajay Jadeja’s five year ban was reduced, why can’t Azhar’s, Morarka asked. Azhar was banned during Jaywant Lele’s term as BCCI secretary.
The ban should be removed, but not now. Maybe after six months. If the ban is removed now, people will think BCCI has shown mercy because he lost hi son. Lele said.

Hope he will not behave like a Joker.

I think Mohinder maight resign in the middle of his tenure if he is not given a free hand . Only that kind of resoluteness will spare him to be not a joket as he famously called the selecters in 1987.

Alas! Srikanth will remain the selection committee executive member for another year.
He must be removed since he is main architect of Team India's failure in England.

Come on man grow up. This is the Test team that got India to No 1 is the Test and won a world cup. Its the injuries and the fact the England played better cricket is the reason. Why he has to be blamed, I really dont know

But you will admit that his selection of players - whether it's through ignorance or provincialism, Team has suffered; since there are no dirth of good players for Test and ODI matches.

HEADACHE FOR SRIKANT ?
by damodaran mohan on Sep 19, 2011 12:37 PM  | Hide replies

Well, Amarnath joining the selectors may revive the factional fights during selection meetings seen during Kiran More's times. The selection process might not be as smooth as seen for couple of yrs now as this man doesn't appear as objective as he should be in his columns or during commentary.Srikant is sure to get a headache.
