That is the reason why there are lot of pacers in Pakistan.
by sanjay sandanshiv on Oct 24, 2011 11:58 AM

We rely on the old recordholders although the players from backward states are coming up with their hard work and dedication but the management are giving preferences to the old heros, we spoiled varun in England where all seamers proved their limitations in favourable pitch. I think atleast dhoni should understand this , he missed zharkhand boy while he was in the camp..hope tiwary will get chance in his young age..

I hope he gets a chance in the last ODI in place of Munaf, who has been struggling throughout the series.

This is the reason why India never produce a real fast bowler ,our selector and team management only like to support bowler like Vinay Kumar,Pravin Kumar (slow -medium )who cannot would be a real strikers in international Cricket and also preferred Munaf who was rightly called spinner by Andy Roborts.

Dhoni wont take aaron because, he is from jharkand and original tribal, dhoni is a import, if he clicks dhonis USP will go down, along with the endorsements. so it is purely political.

It is too late now for Varun but we waited for 60 years for him
by Nikhil Shah on Sep 16, 2011 05:50 AM  | Hide replies

Finally we have a bowler who is about 2-3 kph quicker than Zaheer, Ishant, Sreesanth and Nehra, pace that was seriously quick.

The exclusion of Umesh Yadav in SA and Varun Aaron has been an issue. In addition, when the WC was played India could not defend 339 in 50 overs and the selection of Piyush Chawla was a big blunder because India could have lost the WC had it not been for the Seniors.

Another blunder is the exclusion of Shikhar Dhawan who was a legitimate ODI opener compared to Dinesh Karthik and Parthiv and the chronic absences of Gambhir, Sehwag and Sachin.

The lack of grooming of Tiwari and with no real find of the series in the absence of seniors was the major issue rather than losing the rankings.

Mukund Anand and Murali Vijay should have continued for the England tour even though they failed in WI, because they were legitimate openers.

Overall, I would call this a farce if the youngsters were not properly exposed since winning cannot be expected and a wasted chance for the future.

The selectors had no clue about which player is suitable for which format.

Rahane's developement should have started in SA as a Test top order and Tiwari in the Test middle order so that they were ready in WI.

Overall, Dhoni tends to select line and length with swing but the strike capability has hurt India and his bias for Praveen Kumar, R.I.P Singh, Ohja and Jaidev Unankant over strike bowlers like Ishant, Mishra, Varun and Umesh will show up when the batting is deplete

Mukund domestic List-A record was solid, ave 57 S/R 84. He was never tried out in WI ODI series. He got picked in Tests directly and that affected him.

Personally, Murali Vijay looks very compact but was in poor form in WI.

India's future ODI top order was : Mukund, Dhawan and Rahane
and the Test trio was Mukund, Rahane and Murali. This was an excellent back up to Sehwag and Gambhir who is so fragile.

Because of FIFO concept
by cc man on Sep 16, 2011 05:33 AM  | Hide replies

Mr. Akram, in India, our team management follows first in first out policy. They always want to give enough opportunities who are already in the dressing room before giving opportunities to new person in the dressing room.

That's exactly what Akram is saying. We go by past performance and reputation than talent. Take the case of Rahane. He was not even the first choice. The first choice was Rohit Sharma. Now see the difference. I am sure many more such talents are there but only our selectors have to open their eye and see. It is easier to pick a team based on past performance and reputation but it is another to search for talent, which itself requires some talent, which most of these jokers who go in the name of selectors(some of them would not have even held a bat in their hand during their life time), does not have.

Probably because he was one of the best fast bowlers of all time . When he talks about fast bowlers , he usually talks sense . If his advice can help Indian cricket , then his nationality doesnt matter . Ego and Diginty are two separate things .

His name is Varun Raymond Aaron . He is a christian from Jharkahand . This is just to correct your misconception . His religion has nothing to do with his talent or skill .

Akram's Services for Indian Cricket

Wasim Akram must be made a consultant by BCCI in strategising and player selection criteria etc. Akram is a pure cricket professional untouched by parochial sentiments. I like him.

That was the first match he was playing in England . He played it within 3 days of reaching there . Did you expect him to get used to the conditions then and there ? He is young and needs experience ; Experience comes from playing matches and that is what Akram was referring to . Even if he didnt do well in his first one or two matches , he couldnt have done much worser than the fast bowlers who played instead of him and they were far more experienced . At least we could have groomed him to play more matches .

Wasim Akram gets into trouble
by Narayanan Sangameswaran on Sep 15, 2011 06:15 PM

I hope Wasim has an alternate profession other than working for BCCI in one way or the other. This comment is not going to go well for him. Now, BCCI will meet, not to discuss what good can be done, but force Wasim out of business which they will do fine. If Wasim still things BCCI is thinking of cricket and not money, he is kidding us
