For a captain who was not long back the toast of the nation for his leadership in World cup, Dhoni has shown immense sportsman spirit. He has been there in all the matches leading the team in all these losses. Lets at least respect his resolve and dedication to the Indianness.
Losing a Test Series is no disgrace. White Wash is acceptable. Losing T 20 and One Day Series is also not painful. By abstaining to attend the function, we have established that we are no good off the field also. This act is disgraceful and unpardonable. We should not call ourselves a Sportsman or a Cricket fan here after. Even if I accept that the Manager of the team got the information only at 12 Noon yet I feel, if not the full team, at least majority of the players could have attended the function. Kindly let someone tell me, where is the Sportsman Spirit? Sports should build character and discipline than wins and laurels. We should tender an unconditional written apology for our act.
It is bad that the team being in the city yet failed to attend. If BCCI is to be blamed, they should shoulder the blame. Even if the players got news by mid day and if even a little chance was there, they should have cancelled sight seeing and shopping to be there. It is their organization-the ICC and the BCCI. It would have been so much more graceful if they were present.
Dhoni had to be included in this team. It is a totally wrong on the part of ICC to miss him. They ignored the captain of ICC XI. It is good that Dhoni boycotted the ICC awards.
