3rd ODI at the Oval

A predictable result, another defeat. Time and again, out batting technique is being exposed. This combined with a toothless attack has hammered another nail in the coffin. Why was AAron not played, maybe a bit of pace in our attack could have helped. The least we can do at this stage is to at least experiment.

India-B loses

There is nothing to fear. The future is bright for Indian cricket. Who cares about England, the center of the cricketing world is India. What matters is IPL. Lords is not Mecca of cricket, Mumbai is.

"The future is bright for Indian cricket" is a good way of saying we are down but not out.

IPL gave us the M-o-M ...
Well done, Ravindra Jadeja

Oval match

It has been tough for India with a second string side playing against an England eleven which is settled and confident.
India has come close to winning in the last two matches but did not have the firepower to last the distance. This tour has revealed a few things. While Raina & Kohli are good in ODIs(unless the wicket is green and pacy)they lack the technique for Test cricket outside India.
Both of them need to work on their craft before being selected for Tests. While Kohli can make necessary adjustments Raina seems clueless.India has to groom players like Pujara,Rahane,Manoj Tiwary,Rohit Sharma,Mukund,Murli Vijay,Rayudu for the longer form.Vijay looked a very compact player when he first entered the scene. Now he has become flashy and needs to work on this.
The bowling is poor with none of the pacemen(except Zaheer) being effective.Praveen has tried hard within his limitations but on hard wickets of Australia & SA his lack of pace will hurt. Ishant, bowled well in WI but lost his zip having to play 7 Tests in a row.Sreesanth was erratic.Munaf was predictable.Vinay Kumar is not impressive.
Lack of guile not pace is the problem.
Kapil Dev,Richard Hadlee,Mohammad Asif,McGrath etc were not pacy but took lots of wickets in England.Zaheer is not pacy nor was Prabhakar but they bowled intelligently. There seems to be a lack of guts and understanding in the bowlers.

Excellent fight

Win / Lose - India gave an excellent fight. except for few occossions fielding was amazing. After long time, never die attitude showed by India. I also liked the way Ashwin spoke after the match. That's how it should be. We can expect a win soon if we continue to play like this.

Hey Murali this is india, when they will come back they will be bombarded by fans for their worthless autographs, garlands and bouquets at Airport. What else you are expecting.I still remember Rameez Raja interview that whenever they played India outside Pakistan and if they lost the custom officials at their airports used to search everything in their luggage, even their undies to show the players true worth but this is India my friend here custom officials must be waiting eagerly for these fake gods for shake hands.

Senapathy agree with u,atleast these 11 human beings are showing more fighting spirit than the team which involves 10 human beings and 1 GOD.Ironically after the GOD has left the fighting spirit is improving.

Unlucky this match
by Sameer Bhagwat on Sep 10, 2011 02:20 AM

Indians were unlucky this match. If the spinners could bowl 10 overs this would have been a different match.

Pacers have been a big letdown.
